The festival of Durga Puja is celebrated with great pomp and splendour in the month of Ashwina(Sept-Oct) in the state of Bengal in India.Beautiful clay images of the Goddess are placed in pandals (temporary stuctures which are works of art) and worshipped for five days.On the last day of Vijaya Dashami the idols are immersed in rivers, ponds or other water bodies.
Last weekend I visited Kumartuli which is a colony of idol makers in Kolkata city.As Durga Puja was just a week away, the idols were mostly in the finishing stages.I thought I would share some of my pictures with my Flickr friends.
This is the "Devil's Throat" at the Iguazu falls. It's is the most massive and impressive of all the falls. The brownish colour of the water is due to heavy rainfall fallen over the area on the day previous to my visit - it turns the water muddier. On the first comment I've put a shot I took on exactly the same spot on a different visit, the colour of the water was completely different.

Just a small medieval build to try out some techniques and colours, and I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially with the diving flippers and some other lime pieces. I grew quite fond of this colour and I'll definitely use it more often. I'll probably make some more of this small stuff in between the big posts, it's really refreshing and fun.
