Another shot from the walk over High Rigg on Boxing day showing off the wonderful colours of the fells in winter.
From now on I will try to improve my technical skills, so any feedback/ advice is more than welcome :)

Apparently the fishermen painted their homes bright colours so they could see them from out at sea.

Pilgrims take an early morning dip in the Ganges in Varanasi at one of the many bathing Ghats.

A Ghat is steps leading down from the riverfront to the river.
The ancient city of Varanasi is famous for its Ghats.There are 84 of them. Many of them were built by the erstwhile royal families of India and are named after them. Most are bathing or ceremonial Ghats while two of them, Manikarnika and Harishchandra, are used exclusively as cremation sites. Many Ghats have legends or mythologies associated with them.

Having recently uploaded a couple of photos of thermal pools taken within the old Faithful complex in Yellowstone Park it got me thinking about other locations where I have seen similar sights. Iceland sprang to mind but New Zealand even more so.
This photo which shows just some of the range of colours caused by such activity was taken within the Wai-o-Tapu reserve close to Rotorua on the north island in New Zealand.
