Hello Flickr friends! Hope you're all doing well. I had to fly to Sri Lanka, and back to Dhaka to get yet another one month visa to stay in Bangladesh. I managed to take as many photos as possible during the three days in Colombo. Here goes the first one!
I must admit, when I visited Sri Lanka first time, I told myself (and everyone else), I wouldn't be interested to go back. Never say never, I know it now :) Colombo surprised me, in a good way this time.
More photos to come! And I'll catch up with your posts very soon!
Thanks for your visit and have a great day!

The handwritten caption on the backside says "Buddhist Temple in Colombo", Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Is that correct? It looks more like a Hindu building.

Kompannavidiya Railway Station also known as Slave Island Railway Station is located between Secretariat Halt railway stop and Kollupitiya railway station on the Coast Line in Colombo District.
Opened to the Publlic 1878
Built with Victorian-era architectural embellishments, the station carries significant architectural and historic value. The building features stylish arches, intricate woodwork, and metal installations, which emphasize Victorian-era styles.
During my two visits, I didn't see clean beaches in Colombo (maybe I didn't know the right place to go to). What I saw, though, were the slums between the sea and the luxurious new buildings. There is no sewage system in the slums, so it flows right into the ocean as you try to take a "nice" walk in the seaside.
This brief piece of beach is in a relevantly nice part of Colombo, with presidential residence and a lot of nice hotels in minutes' walk. There is also a playground and numerous fast-food booths, that's why this place is always crowded. We didn't dare to try the food, because we noticed rats running around.
The view was nice though :)
Thanks for your visit and have a great day!
A walking tour with a companion and a camera is a great way to get to know the streets of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and to absorb the local colour and history.
