At the eastern entrance of the beautiful Viharamahadevi-park in Colombo (Sri Lanka's capital) starts a narrow gauge railwayline. The platform of this station 'Town Hall' suggests that trains are not running anymore. That's right. Nobody seems to care about the relicts (Nov. 2011). >>
Colombo is a fascinating city, not only for its comfortable blend of East and West, but also for its cosy mixture of past and present. It is the commercial capital of the country.
Attractions: Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, churches the old parliament building, the zoo, museums, and art galleries.

The chaotic markets of Pettah, where Colombo's locals go to shop. It's not as crazy as some of India's densely populated cities, but this was about as close as it got to that feeling of utter madness.
