Hooray! I finally own something from the Val Zietler/Dollheart teamup 2009 Haute doll Bitten Collection! Plus, I happened to have shoes and socks that look perfect with it :)
In the background is "The Londonderry Cabinet by Etienne Levasseur (1721 - 1798) made in France c. 1775. Oak veneered with ebony and première- and contre-partie Boulle marquetry of brass and turtleshell, glass, gilt bronze, brass, steel, pinewood and buff velvet. This magnificent bookcase is veneered with ebony and with première- and contre-partie Boulle marquetry of brass and turtleshell. It has three compartments, fitted with pinewood shelves, closed by glazed double doors and separated by pilasters veneered with Boulle marquetry. There are gilt bronze mounts on the front and sides including bearded male masks, winged infants and the groups of Apollo and Marsyas and Apollo and Daphne.
It is a reinterpretation of a design by André-Charles Boulle (1642-1732) by Etienne Levasseur (1721-1798, maître 1767) and is closely related to a pen-and-wash drawing after Boulle showing a bookcase with accompanying filing-cabinet and writing-table that was destroyed in the Second World War. This drawing was annotated by a contemporary hand and from these references it was clear that the design had been carried out; the similarities in measurements and decorative detail suggest that the Wallace Collection bookcase was copied from one made after the drawing. Similar bookcases are known from eighteenth-century portraits and one was supplied by the marchand-mercier Lazare Duvaux to the great connoisseur and art collector, Lalive de Jully, in 1756.
The Wallace Collection piece appears to follow the Lalive example closely, although the original shape has been adapted to the neo-classical taste of the last quarter of the eighteenth century and the compartments have glazed doors, whereas earlier these would have been filled with a brass wire mesh. It may be linked to two similar bookcases in the Royal Collection. Sold from the Royal Collection, Phillips, Buckingham Palace, 11-13 August 1836, no. 169; Jacobs Primus, Holdernesse House. The Wallace Collection is a national museum that displays the art collections brought together by the first four marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace, the likely illegitimate son of the 4th Marquess. It was bequeathed to the British nation by Lady Wallace, Sir Richard’s widow, in 1897.
It is displayed at Hertford House, formerly the principal London residence of the marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace. It was opened to the public as a museum in 1900.

The Caravanserai Event was a great success and marks the pinnacle of Grassroots change and Regeneration in Newham ahead of the London Olympic Games. It is a shining example of "...People doing things for themselves" and most importantly "Their Communities"...
Over 15 Organisations came out from march 31st - April1st to exhibit creative stalls including decorated East Eggs, Live P.A by Da Sweetnezz, Craftsmen Fish Making, Live Bands, Jamie Oliver Cooking, Caribbean Take out, The Drop In Bereavement Centre info stand, Flower arranging and face painting.
Eveybody loved the HC Collection and the great doversity within one organisation. 'HC Original' Model, J.Sobola; who was wearing her own inspired dress - 'Jennifer' said "This was a fantastic experience... and we are looking forward to the next one!
