After leaving the Empire State Building, we visited the Fricke Collection on Central Park East. Like the Annabella Gardner museum we had seen in Boston, the Fricke is a formerly private collection in an old mansion turned public.

This sign shop on Magazine Street is one of the last sign shops to actually paint their signs rather than computer generating them. It's all man (or woman) power--the brush is mightier than the computer.

There was an afternoon event at Gammelgarden in which there were costumed guides at each building doing activities that the visitors could participate in. All the buildings were open and were free that day.
