I made this collage for ria to have in her room to remember our special day out! I used free paper from a fave scrapbook magazine and magazine images.
Our friends' daughter Ellie made this awesome 11x17 collage with my stuff :). I can't count them as mine though, of course. :). Scraps, washi tape, stickers, Thailand Postal stickers, rubber-stamps.

This one's almost finished. Twenty minutes ago it was looking like a real mess and after many attempts I was about to chuck it and start a new one. At the last moment I changed the overall hue and saturation and suddenly the ugly turned beautiful and I'll get a keeper out of it. I was working with "second drawer" images. These are ones that are boring or badly composed or are generally not interesting for one reason or another. But you never know what's going to work, and sometimes it's these "bad" images that combine the best.
I challenged myself this week to use only the images from the collage sheet.
My immediate inspiration was the girl's perm-surprised look, which I see so often here. Actually, a friend inspired me (hopefully she won't see it!)
Between drawing a lot the first time and learning how to draw on the computer i used to collage...
It's an easy out if you've lost confidence in your drawing.

This is a collage of photographs of my beloved Grandmother Marilyn Elmore. She was the rock of our family and a source of strength for many years. She was a strong, opinionated woman who despite many obstacles, put her responsibilities first and foremost. I truly can envision no finer role model that encompasses what it is to be a woman, wife, working mother, and person. A brilliant diamond of her generation that glitters in our thoughts forever.
