MOC Blocks are a TWO BRICK / BASEPLATE SYSTEM. There design is to help you with your projects in three ways:
One is to support the flimsy Base Plates and keep you MOC from falling apart. Great for transporting to your next show and dealing with uneven tables.
Two is providing a simple solution to adding depth and height ( Topography ) to your project. ( Hills, Valleys, Rivers, Craters and Trenches ) Great for hiding wires for lights!
Three is cost. Moc Blocks provide a 80% savings if you were to use Lego as your filler, its light weight and provides better support!
Curator Sam Barzilay collaborated with numerous international artists to create a 340-foot photographic fence installation titled, Superheroes. Each of the selected photographers approached the subject of superheroes as an allegory for a deeper exploration of a social issue, whether it was gender roles, unsung heroes, the desire of humanity to believe in super powers, or a memory of our lost childhood. Barzilay and the United Photo Industries team collaborated over the past three years to produce this installation.
United Photo Industries, the DUMBO Improvement District and the NYCDOT Urban Art Program partnered to bring this project to fruition. Superheroes will be displayed around the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage in Dumbo from August 9, 2012 until the end of the year. The following artists’ works are exhibited at this site: Maleonn (China), David Graham (United Kingdom), Alex Gross (USA), Walter Iraheta (El Salvador), Susanne Middelbery (Netherlands), Dulce Pinzon (Mexico/USA), Gregg Segal (USA), Nicolas Silberfaden (Argentina/USA), and Astrid Verhoef (Netherlands).

The Natural Step Canada hosted the 2nd annual Accelerate: Collaborating for Sustainability Conference June 5-6, 2014, at the Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, Ontario www.naturalstep.ca/.
FORD Motor Company Fund, collaborating with the Los Angeles Chapter of the Freedom Sister’s and the National Veterans Transition Services, to address the many challenges women face as they leave the military back into civilian life. Presented a graduating class of 12 women at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in beautiful Beverly Hills California.
The Beverly Hills Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was filled with an energy of excitement and encourage as 12 brave women who have served our nation entered the room for their graduation ceremony. These 12 woman embody intelligence, bravery, courage and sheer beauty.
The 2015 Freedom Sister’s Reboot Graduating Class #71 are as follows:
Eve Estrada (US Army Veteran), Doreen Ferris (US Army Veteran), Yolanda Franklin (US Navy Veteran), Tina Hammer (US Army Veteran), Yesenia Henshall (US Army Veteran), Heathra King (US Army Veteran), Lora Pietszak (US Airforce Veteran), Pamela Richardson (US Army Veteran), Monikkachelle Santos (US Navy Veteran), Rolanda Shells (US Army Veteran), Christina Silva (US Marine Veteran), Julienne Wills (US National Guard Veteran)
Freedom’s Sisters REBOOT Workshop takes its name from Ford’s earlier support of the Freedom Sister’s traveling exhibition, which celebrated the life of women civil rights pioneers, as well as present-day women who are making a difference in their communities. Several current members of the Freedom Sisters from the Los Angeles area will serve as mentors for the women’s’ REBOOT workshop in Los Angeles.
Freedom Sister’s REBOOT workshops are free, three week course for women veterans in Los Angeles. This program is specifically designed to address the many challenges and difficulties women face when returning to the uncertain future of being a civilian.
The courses ran for three weeks on the campus of National University where the women were able to attend free classes five days a week which focused on employment and career opportunities, personal well-being, goal achievement and makeover session to establish their overall style after their careers in the military.
As a group compared to men, women veterans are less likely to be married, and are more likely to be single parents and unemployed. In addition to higher rates of homelessness, they also often face gaps in medical care for women’s health issues as they enter a veterans system geared toward treating males. These issues are expected to grow as the number of women veterans increases. Women are expected to comprise 11 percent of the veteran population by 2020, up 9 percent.
“These brave women have served and sacrificed to defend our freedom, and yet there are few programs that address their unique needs as they return to the home front and to their families,” said Pamela Alexander, director of Community Development, Ford Motor Company Fund. “It’s another opportunity to say thank you, while also helping them make a successful transition.”
“We designed this program to meet the unique needs of women, and the training builds upon the participants’ military training, skills and experience,” said Maurice Wilson, co-founder, REBOOT Workshop and retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer. “The workshop addresses the professional, social and personal aspects of life, along with connections to community resources that could also be of help.”
Ford’s support of military veterans dates back more than 90 years, when Henry Ford organized a cross-country caravan of 50 Model T Fords to take disabled veterans to the 1922 national convention of the Disabled American Veterans in San Francisco. Since 1974, Ford and Ford Fund have provided more than $8 million to veterans’ organizations. Today, Ford employs more than 7,000 veterans plus hundreds of active military personnel, reservists and guardsmen.
As a photographer and activist fighting for the rights and protection for the homeless and love income individuals here in Los Angeles, it was indeed a huge honor to once again serve as the sole and official photographer for FORD Motor Company.
It’s going to take some bold out of the box thinking, backed by people who truly care about overall well-being of humanity to effectively address and create positive change that affect the lives of these women and thanks to the bold thinking of FORD, the Freedom Sister’s and Maurice Wilson the ball is now moving forward in a direction of real change for women who need it right now.
I get to cover celebrity red carpet events all the time, but when I’m able to cover red carpet events such as these, my soul leaps because I am able to see first-hand just how much new ideas and positive thinking can truly change the lives of those who need it most.
Having the honor to see the smiles on the faces of these women as they walked onto the red carpet to cheering photographers congratulating them, thanking them for the service to this country and snapping their pictures was so amazing. Then hearing some of their personal stories and accomplishments and see just how very bright the future truly is for these courageous women was incredible.
Its red carpet events such as these that remind why I love photography so much. It’s companies such as FORD and organizations such as Freedom Sister’s that remind me, encourage me, implore me to continue my work for homeless individuals, low income families and individuals living with HIV or AIDS because it is the right thing to do.
Its phenomenal women such as Pamela Alexander, Angela Polk, Lynn Quigley, Beverly White, Cheryl Hudson, Phoebe Beasley, Valerie Blackburn, Daphne Bradford, Glenda Gill, Lawanda Hawkins, Rosie Lee Hooks, Denise Pines, Jessie Sherrod and KC Tuckness who encourage and remind us of what it means to be of service to those in need.
It’s events and red carpets like these where I have the honor and distinct privilege of capturing the true celebrities, the real stars and heroes who serve this country and defend our freedoms without fail. I commend and thank these brave women for their majesty and courage.

Residents of Thomasboro engaged with community agencies during a collaborative event that brought people together to share food, fun, and educational resources benefiting childhood development and economic opportunity. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library provided information on learning programs such as Summer Break and Active Reading; access to educational resources through ONE Access and live homework help; resources on continuing education; hands-on technology and literacy for teens; book giveaways; and storytelling through friend of the Library, Ramona Big Eagle. BBQ was provided by Noble Smoke, and music by artists JustHIS League. Games and face painting were also among fun activities for kids.
Giving hope and transformation for Charlotte’s most at-risk neighborhoods, Charlotte Mecklenburg Dream Center sponsored the event as a part of their Adopt-A-Block kickoff, which seeks to connect with residents through faith-based outreach.

KAKEGAWA, Japan – Swirling sand obscures the sunlit sky as a UH-1 “Huey” helicopter touches down on a freshly cut baseball field. Mere moments pass before the Huey’s Japan Ground Self-Defense Force crew chief dismounts from his metallic steed and sprints toward four U.S. Army Soldiers bearing a stretcher. The crew chief’s commanding shout cuts through the roar of rotor blades, springing his American partners into action. With swift, expert precision, the stretcher bearers carry their wounded comrade—a mannequin sporting an Army Combat Uniform—to the Huey.
Casualty evacuation was one of the many training missions orchestrated during Shizuoka Prefecture’s annual Comprehensive Disaster Drill conducted here Sept. 4, 2016. The drill demonstrated the emergency response capabilities of a diverse collection of local, regional, national and international organizations. Its static displays, interactive classes and practical workshops conducted throughout Kakegawa also provided lifesaving lessons for the city’s citizens.
“The people of Shizuoka Prefecture have organized this annual exercise for 35 years,” said Yuka Ogura, a supervisor for the prefectural government’s Emergency Countermeasures Division. “Although the drill’s size and scope has become increasingly complex with the inclusion of specialized government agencies and advanced equipment, the individual residents play the most pivotal role in preparing for the worst.”
Among the participants stood a dozen Soldiers assigned to U.S. Army Japan, I Corps (Forward) and Public Health Command-Pacific. The group packed two Humvees with fuel, rations and medical supplies before embarking on their 120-mile journey from Camp Zama to Kakegawa.
“The U.S. Army has actively participated in this drill since 2010,” said Maj. Donald Kim, U.S. Army liaison officer for to the JGSDF's Eastern Army and Central Readiness Force. “It demonstrates our capabilities in humanitarian response assistance by testing our troops’ expertise in first aid, supply distribution, convoy operations and medical evacuation. Our participation also sends a strong message to our Japanese partners that we are willing and able to provide immediate support when disaster strikes.”
“Since the great east Japan earthquake and tsunami [in 2011], local communities have a greater understanding and openness to collaborate with international agencies in the aftermath of a major disaster,” added Ogura. “The U.S. Army has proved on many occasions that it has the talent and resources to respond to any emergency in the country.”
Throughout the exercise, the American Soldiers worked closely with their Japan Ground Self-Defense Force partners from the 34th Infantry Regiment, Eastern Army, JGSDF. The respective units set up their base of operations at a local gym where they combined resources to coordinate convoy routes, establish mobile communication sites, and set up supply distribution points.
“The JGSDF and U.S. Army have specialized equipment and highly trained personnel that many of our civilian counterparts cannot afford,” said JGSDF Sgt. 1st Class Miura Hatoshi, a squad leader in the 2nd Company, 34th Infantry Regiment. “However, these assets are practically worthless if we don’t properly use them. That’s why it’s essential that we seize every opportunity to train together so we may make the right decisions together.”
The drill concluded with a closing ceremony at a demolished neighborhood used as a training site for search, rescue and recovery operations. Standing alongside hundreds of service members, firefighters, police officers and first responders, Heita Kawakatsu, governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, expressed his appreciation for the American participants.
“The citizens of Shizuoka Prefecture and I are grateful for the support from the U.S. Army and Marines,” said Kawakatsu. “Your skill and professionalism were second only to your care and compassion.”
As the troops shook hands and exchanged small tokens of appreciation with their gracious hosts, Kim reflected on his team’s immense effort, energy and enthusiasm.
“I’m proud of these men,” said Kim. “Many of them have Military Occupation Specialties far separated from the desired skillsets for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. However, their proficiency in their basic warrior tasks and their eagerness to learn from the experts shows our Japanese partners that they can count on us anytime, anywhere.”
