The temperature dropped back down into the high 30s this morning. It doesn’t stop the green. But it does mean I got to enjoy this beautiful morning alone. Everybody else is complaining about it. I’ve loving it. That’s pretty much how my life goes.

Our Daily Challenge ~ Warm ....

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

I took drive to drop off some xmas prezzies and wanted to take some pictures with the snow, so I brought my cameras along. It was a foggy windy day, I trekked out to this spot to snap a few quick pictures before heading back for the warmth of my truck.

Really cold - all the cars had thick white sparkly coats, and the meadow was monochrome. The frost took a while to melt, even when the sun came out (and it did, we had another day of clear blue skies).

"Cold Duck" (Kalte Ente) is the name of a wine-based bottled drink of German origin. *

At least two of these three ducks do indeed look really cold. Nonetheless, an increasing number of ducks now stay here in our area in winter rather than migrating south.

They are riding out turbulent winter flooding on the Swiss stretch of the ordinarily placid River Wiese. It is a Swiss tributary of the Rhine.

* COLD DUCK (Kalte Ente):

Cold Duck wine-based bottled drinks are sold in the USA and other places, but the origin is German.

It is a fun story.

From:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_Duck

"The recipe was based on a German legend involving Prince Clemens Wenceslaus of Saxony ordering the mixing of all the dregs of unfinished wine bottles with Champagne. The wine produced was given the name Kaltes Ende ("cold end" in German), until it was altered to the similar-sounding term Kalte Ente meaning "cold duck".[1] The exact recipe now varieswinter, but the original combined one part of Mosel wine, one part Rhine wine with one part of Champagne, seasoned with lemons and balm mint."

Location: River Wiese, Basel City BS Switzerland.

A Bluejay in the warm morning sun hoping to warm up despite an air temperature of - 25 C

The Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site at Hyde Park, New York was built and used as a vacation home in the country. It is on the cliffs above the Hudson river, which, big as it is, was smoothly frozen over and covered with snow. There was a bitterly icy wind driving snowflakes past the classical style urns on the porch, and the lions head symbols high on the limestone facade. Even expensive things get cold, I suppose.

It's -45 to -50 in Ottawa today... A good morning to stay inside, have a coffee and edit a photo.

I'm defiantly not feeling myself lately. My mom says I'm in a "funk" about myself...uh okay. Lot of crap as been going on but I'm trying to keep a high head. :]

But anyway, I'm off to camp starting Monday, so I'll have plenty of photos to post (hopefully).

It'll be good.

oh and people are starting to comment my photos again. Yay!

also, I posted the original in the comments. (they're both grainy, I know)

oooo wat was het koud toen ik deze foto maakte..ggrr

Fuji Instax Mini film, by Mint TL70.

She stares out the window

waiting for the sun to reach her

but there is no sun today

She waits in vain

admiring the hanging lemons

glimpses of sun outside the glass

She stands near the stove

warm liquid boiling

socked feet on the cold floor

She is craving something

To warm her outside

Shivers

She has nothing left to give

everything is promised

to someone else

It's the most wonderful time

when we have something to give

She doesn't
