"We managed to slip past a couple of raiding groups yesterday. They seem to be multiplying. Luckily we managed to get to one of the maintenance ladders for the upper city. They are always guarded so the raiders shouldn't bother us here. But we may have some issues with the people of the upper city they have a tendency to deal harshly with people like us. And they wonder why we call this place Coin city, two side of the coin."

Built for vignweek 2021

The back of the 1776-1976 Eisenhower Dollar (Type II) coin issued in 1976. The Liberty Bell represents the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the Moon represents the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.

After a bit of thought I came up with coin, then had to hunt the house for some old coins.

In the mid 1980's the OH went to China and Japan on business and I'm guessing this was left over from his visit.

Somewhere in paradise

Here is one of my fanciful digital paintings. i tend to photograph what's laying around my house, and my son left this pile of coins sitting around, inspiring the photo.

Working with a fast shutter speed this week. I wanted to see if I could freeze a spinning coin. The answer is...yes.

Some Silver Coins...

Some of them are more than 100 years old...

The Australian War Memorial, Canberra

These are crowns, they were regularly minted in the nineteenth century and worth five shillings (equivalent to about £25 today). Nowadays they are only minted to commemorate special occasions. These are all post decimal coins and have a face value of twenty-five pence each. Formerly one was able to get them from banks at face value and I have spent them in shops – they usually created some interest as they are handsome coins 1½ inches across.

However, the value of the newer ones has been increased to five pounds and they are now only available in special packs at well above face value 😟

The Macro Mondays group has chosen Currency today.

I couldn't resist taking this one home :o) was looking for a coin purse in Harrods and came home with this one.It is the cutest one of LV.The logo reminds me of Tintin.

When ever we or a family member travel to a different country, I ask them to bring back a couple of coins from that country.
