Cocktail Hour consumed seven pizzas -- two chicken, two cheese, one veggie, and two pepperoni.
The crowd also scarfed through two handles of bourbon, two of gin, three or four bottles of wine, three six-packs of (good!) beer, lots of soda and tonic, an entire tray of truffles (homemade -- thanks, Creighton!), an entire tin of fudge (also homemade -- thanks, Kat!), a wonderful cheese tray (also donated, but I don't recall by whom at the moment), and tons (almost literally...;) of chips, dip, crackers, hummus, pretzels, and Hershey's miniatures. Phew!
Still a great time, though -- and everyone made it home safely. Now that's a party.

I enjoy bourbon, and my favourite is Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve, a 20-year-old bourbon. It's beautiful: it evaporates before it hits your throat, and I like to sip it neat.
Last week, an acquaintance of JB's suggested George T. Stagg's to us, so we thought we'd give it a try.
I asked JB to do a blind test taste for me; Stagg and Pappy's side by side: I loved the colour and caramelly smell of the bourbon on the left, but when I drank it, I knew it wasn't the Pappy's -- it nearly took the enamel off my teeth. I wheezed and choked like an amateur.
Undaunted, we put the Stagg over ice...muuuuuuuuch better. Pappy's neat, Stagg on the rocks.
We love our jumbo drinks!
