David's 34th Birthday Gathering at Clyde's, Reston Town Center, on their second to last day.
After 31 years at the heart of Reston Town Center, and in the hearts of local foodies, Clyde's of Reston closed its doors on Saturday, May 21st, 2022. My favorite local restaurant for the better part of the last two decades, Clyde’s has a long list of memories for me.
Thank you to all of you who joined me to celebrate my 34th birthday with dinner and drinks at this iconic restaurant and bar and saw this longtime local favorite off in style by marking one last memory the day before their close with me, and to all of you who have sent well wishes or joined me for other outings for my birthday this year.

The beauty of having the wine as a prop for the sunset cocktail hour is that it doesn't go to waste.....

For BuckarooBob: Here's wishing YOU a 'Dolce Vita'!
The photo on the wall looks like Anita Ekberg in Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" but the Chihuly-looking glass 'flames' in the lamp on the ceiling are definitely 21st century. It was Midtown, at cocktail hour. I was photo-prowling my way across town to MoMA, camera in hand and peeped into this establishment. I made a series of shots, fully aware of the blue/gray square reflected on the window--a bit of the scene across the street. Then I got a marvelous dose of serendipity, someone walked right into the center of the square, just behind me, just as I made the shot. It almost seems as if s/he's looking right at me, wondering what I'm doing--as well they might. (Some people must think that I'm some kind of strange, female camera-wielding Peeping Tom.) I protest: it's all for the sake of Art!
This was clearly a high-class joint; the decor alone shows us that. I love the symmetry of red--the red 'flames' of the lamp and the red light bulbs implanted in the bar. The atmosphere is deliciously decadent; the wall seems to be made of/encrusted with glass beads, rather bordello-like. What were they thinking? :~>
