Bit gory, apologies if it's unsettling.
I've been living in SE Asia for just over 3 years, when travelling cock fighting is ubiquitous when you get of the beaten track. It's so ingrained in the Phillipine culture that I heard any politician suggesting controls would be committing political suicide.
But this is taken in Northern Bali, the Balinese revere animals, everywhere there are symbols suggesting there divinity and there are modern societies working to protect wildlife / feral animal throughout Bali.
This pic is taken after around a minute of the fight, after the initial tussle the birds are both exhausted, they are held up and the n put in a wicker cage with nowhere to run.
The bird that can't continue has a small offering placed against him for a while and the next fight takes place.
Trying out the Sigma 150-600 in the garden today. The back part of the garden rises a little, so when I sit in a chair hide in the front part I get an almost eye-level shot of the sparrows on the grass further back. I think he looks quite fierce from this angle! D7100_47172.NEF. Many thanks for views, comments and favourites.
