On Monday 20th July 2020, around 420 coaches descended on London and honked their horns from Earls Court, along the Chelsea Embankment, through Parliament Square and up to Tower Bridge. Their aim was to highlight to the Government the severe financial crisis the industry currently finds itself in with no prospect of any sort of recovery until at least next summer.

I witnessed the parade pass Chelsea Bridge with the lead vehicle passing at 11:00 and the final coach passing some 3 hours later!!

For this event I decided to focus on the coaches themselves.

The after event was held at Ascot Racecourse where 53 coaches gathered for the customary speeches and chit chat.

Satuday 24th August 2019 saw the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final take place at Wembley Stadium featuring St Helens vs Warrington Wolves followed by the 1895 Cup Final between Sheffield Eagles and Widnes Vikings. This ensured a good turn out of coaches from those areas with no less than 150 parking up in the Yellow parking zone, a further 40 in the Orange zone and around another 20 in the Pink zone.

I took a good selection of the Yellow zone arrivals which saw examples of bodywork from 20 different manufacturers ranging from Barbi to Yutong.

Seeing a Portsmouth City Coaches rail replacement bus in Woking yesterday reminded me I have some shots from a photoshoot I did with them earlier this year (August 2025). CBW magazine requested some photos for an article that one of their esteemed reporters had written so with the help of proprietor Mike Elkin we posed a few of the fleet for my camera and enjoyed a bag of chips afterwards (cheers Mike!). The MCV Evosetis, new at the time, are now in fleet livery.

Saturday 16th April 2022 saw Liverpool play Manchester City in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. With the West Coast Main Line affected by engineering works, it was bound to produce a good selection of coaches with around 250 turning up. I noted 22 different coach body manufacturers to give plenty of variety to the day.
