A beautiful species of birds that are a tad bigger than a Pigeon / Dove. The birds are fast flyers and known to be very shy. They have a very unique way of gathering water and store it under wings after which they fly into the grasslands to share it with their young.

These are commonly seen in grasslands and specifically in areas where there is lot of red soil. The birds easily camouflage themselves in red soil and it is quite easy to miss them unless we know where to look.

On this day, I sighted half a dozen near a reddish soil dirt road, 4 of which flew away immediately. I didn't see these two, but stopped slowly in despair of missing them again and then noticed the two nearby. Thankfully they seemed to have sensed my feelings and cooperated very much.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback.

I don't know when I've seen a prettier day at the inlet than the day I took this photo. The clouds were so low it was almost as if you could reach out and touch them! Everything was perfect, from the color of the water to the color of the sky, and the wonderful shadows that hit the walkway as I sized up the shot just added to it all.

I used an HDR and Orton treatment in post processing to pull up more detail and color, and took out some of the gold tones that were on the walkway to create a little more color contrast.

I'm up late thanks to sleeping in something like 15 hours last night. My good intentions were to sleep and sleep, so I could get well faster, but my body just wouldn't stay in zombie mode to cooperate, so here it is after 3 AM and I'm just about to hit the hay! I do feel a lot better after getting all that rest, and I thank everyone who prayed for me and sent me good thoughts! I see light at the end of the tunnel. Now, to sleep again....Good night!

HMAM 😊😊😍

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Willow

0634.15.10.2025

Another full frame image of Willow taken last year. She had two small broods. Sadly her nest site was unkowingly disturbed by building repair operations. However, the company immediately halted work close to the nest without challenge and were only too willing to cooperate with my requests. Black redstarts are a protected species in the UK. On average there are only about 50 pairs breeding in the UK. They are losing much of their urban breeding sites owing to gentrification. Here is Willow after having gone through most of her autumn moult and raised two broods successfully.

RARE SIGHTING of this beautiful Cuckoo, one of eight species in the Gambia. I believe this was a juvenile who cooperated with us and stayed for the whole photo shoot. My brother and I left it in almost the same position. Something I will never forget.

=======================

THANK YOU for your visit and friendship, keep safe and well.

God bless ..............Tomx

Been trying for a few weeks to grab some nice shots out my front window of these guys. They finally cooperated yesterday and today. I even used a flash through the window without a glare. Quite pleased!

Panoramic view of Sydney from Kiribilli. Merge of 8 single vertical photos at 70mm focal length. Unfortunately the light show did not cooperate....Anyway! That’s a good reason to do the same shot better at my next visit in Sydney.

This was taken on a dull and dreary day near our coach house in Cumbria. It had all the potential of being a wonderful image at the water's edge, if the light would have just cooperated. So I decided to bring it to its full potential in post processing.. Hope you like it :-}

It was difficult to find a volunteer for a Valentine's day photo. Linus kicked the heart around like an ice hockey puck, Cleo tried to eat it and Fynn only cooperated because he was comatose (must have been a rough night). :) There is another capture of my sleepy Valentine in the comments.

Happy Valentine's Day !

HSS 😊😊😍

With heartfelt gratitude for your kind visit. Wishing you a wonderful, beautiful day. Stay well, stay aware, appreciate the beauty around you, enjoy the process of creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Every time that I see one of these tiny (about 3mm long) leafhopper nymphs, they remind me of shrimps. This one refused to cooperate, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos from the side or front. I kind of like this detailed shot of it's little tail though. Photographed in Maryland on 6/20/23.

the Christmas season has so much fun and joy, laughter, gifts, lights, colors! but then life does not cooperate and bad things happen. so every year i struggle with this, trying to reconcile the joy and sadness. what i decided was, this holiday is about the coming of baby Jesus. and with Him comes hope and promise. if it was a perfect world, He wouldn't need to stop by.

for all the tragedy i see, i also see people like you. struggling but doing it nicely. thanks to you all for your friendship, love and inspiration!

Merry Christmas!

I thought I was going to have to do a deep dive into the archives for my cloud post, then the dusk sky cooperated as we got to the grocery store last evening. It reminded me of dolphins in a wavy ocean - HSoS!

It's time for a Cleo portrait again even if they all more or less look the same. She cooperated nicely and maybe she would really have looked quite slim if the grass had been longer. Unfortunately I had just mowed the lawn. :)

A walkway over the barrier dunes. Outer Banks, NC.

I'm heading there this week to check on things and take some time away from the farm. It's been a long and super hot season. Hopefully if the weather cooperates, I'll do some shooting. See you sometime next week. Thanks for for the views, faves and especially for your comments.

The Bald Eagles weren't cooperating at the mouth of the Klickitat River, but this gorgeous Towhee did! The setting sun was to my back, the 8 inches of snow were behind him, and he gave me multiple shots. Much obliged sir!

I found out from a local bird expert, Wilson Cady, that this is a Great Plains variety that is more brilliantly colored and has larger white spots on the wings, in comparison to the Spotted Towhees west of the Cascades.

A very beautiful persecuted ducks amazing birds. I love watching a group hunting our river they look like penguins from above as they cooperate to round up the brown trout .I can understand why fisherman don"t like these but wow what birds . Their called sawbills for a reason look at that bill !! They disappear locally about April to raise their young in the wooded valleys and lakes they use holes in trees to lay their eggs. But come Autumn they return to hunt and fish.

Please do not use my images in any way without my permission they are copyright protected !!

Please take A look in Large !! press L

Thanks to everyone that takes the time and makes the effort to comment and fave my pics its very much appreciated

Regards Clive

I've another one of this fellow almost identical, but with his head shifted slightly for a future upload.

Concerning yesterday's Kestrel photo, I got extremely lucky--I'd been chasing that Kestrel for a couple of months now and he wouldn't cooperate. I took the photo from my car, in the driver's seat, through the passenger window, and between trees.

Thanks for Viewing.

This little beauty is one of three bluebird boys that stayed for the summer. He and his brothers watch over their sister very carefully.

It's been nice to watch them grow up and to see their feathers during the color changes. This one in particular has some very interesting patterns, especially on his front side. It would be nice if he would cooperate for a front side image before all of those patterns disappear. He doesn't leave when I point the camera in his direction. He simply turns his back towards me.

The little swing feeder is no longer exclusively for mealworms since the young bluebirds seem to prefer the main feeding station. However they do still use it on occasion, usually when the main feeding station is crowded or Dunbar (mockingbird) is being cranky.

I hope you have a terrific Tuesday, happy snapping.

Luneta Park, Manila

The weather did not cooperate with me when i visited Luneta Park. Gloomy sky. I have several pictures. You'll be seeing them for my upcoming posts. :D

When we were visiting Gibson's, many of the trollers were moored for the night. The pubs were busy, people were mulling about, and I was looking for my next shot. The clouds seemed reluctant to deliver much color however, they too cooperated appearing too blush for the camera.

I've wanted a sunset photo here forever and it just never seems to work out well for me. Either wrong time of year or the skies just won't cooperate. I'll keep trying.

Hinsdale County Colorado USA

Despite to be seeking all this week a good catch of Lola stretching for the weekly theme in the "Happy Caturday" group, she did'n want to cooperate.

Anyway, we wish everyone a very Happy Caturday

Remember that we are all in the same boat.

I have a suggestion for my Flickr Friends that we do positive works to try and uplift ourselves during these hard times. Beauty is always uplifting. Will anyone join me? Please feel free to add your name to this work if you are interested in joining me.

Continuing with my Positive Flags of the Nations with a tribute to Friendship and the ability to come together and support one another.

And starting a new project: Finding the Beauty in the World Today Despite the Hardships Given Us by the Coronavirus.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

Fynn and Linus love to explore bags but for some reason they don't want you to take photos of them doing just that. I had planned to take a photo of Linus in that bag because Fynn is rather small and you almost don't see him in there but Linus didn't cooperate. So Fynn, who generally is the more willing poser, had to volunteer as the "lovely thing" of the day. :)

This gorgeous male had just consumed a honey bee and then posed in the sunshine for me to capture his portrait. I suppose protein in his diet caused him to cooperate with this Paparazzo?

Happy Halloween to all. It is intriguing what you see when you are not even looking. I was parked waiting for the boss when off to my left, I saw what might be a decent Halloween shot. This Church steeple in Gibsons, reminded me of a witches hat and the green glass, a wicked pair of eyes. The clouds cooperated and an underexposed image delivered a ghoulish look.

Had so many plans to shoot certain sites at the Northern Oregon Coast this week, the weather is not cooperating. 100% precip!

I borrowed Fynn's Christmas bandana for a little photoshoot with Filou. Considering that he probably never had to wear a bandana before, he cooperated pretty well I think he would have preferred a blue bandana, one that would match with his eyes. Maybe next year. :)

Doe and fawn are both on alert here. Many of us are fortunate to have wildlife visit our yards daily but much of the time they do not cooperate with their pose. I have given these two the through-the-steamed-up-bathroom-window look.

When the light doesn’t cooperate, get creative.

Haven't been around much lately, but everythinngs going good, Ma Nature hasn;t been cooperating much weather wise in that it's been to warm and nice, unfortunately that has left most of our landscape kind of bare and blah looking. So when we saw this forming tonight the Pup really was excited to head out and try for it. If you we;re to stand up from where I shot this you would see what I mean.

Any how it was nice to have a break from the camera, but I sure did miss it and all of you.

CN 2869 works north on the Missabe Sub. towards Burnett, MN, and eventually Canada on the evening of May 30, 2021. Some storms that developed on the Iron Range cooperated and moved slowly off to the southeast just at the right time here at MP 25.

A long string of motive power is common on each 439 these days out of Proctor and this edition with CN 2869, 2172, 2522, 8904, 2026, BLE 903, and 5349 was no different. CN no longer handles inspections or heavy repairs at Proctor, so ore power trailing on 439 for some work in Winnipeg is the norm now.

Garter Snake

I'm so glad the weather cooperated today and the Garter Snakes were happy too!!

After trying for several days to get a shot of a hummingbird from our basement window checking out the Crocosmia, this afternoon one finally cooperated!

I really wanted one from this view because it's one of the few times I can get a natural shot and not a feeder shot. It doesn't hurt that from this POV you can also see the purple Rose of Sharon blooms and the Gardenia bush, which is still blooming.

You might have to look hard to see the hummingbird but she's there. I pinkie swear!

.… said Cleo when I pointed the camera at her.

In fact it was a miracle that she cooperated at all. First of all because she had had her infusion about an hour earlier and after that procedure she usually only talks to me again when it's time for dinner. And then because of the scandalous things that were going on behind my back while I took this photo. Take a look at the capture in the comments if you dare. I recommend to better ignore it if you have just eaten or if you have a sensitive stomach. For everyone who has a cat who goes outdoors this will be an all too familiar sight, though.

One from the archives, Early April 20200 at the Grand Ravines North Park.

I haven't had much time lately to get out with the camera lately and when I do the conditions are not very good. Here is SW Lower Michigan this time of year the sun has a hard time showing itself. We get very dark and grey skies so photographing these birds are a little more difficult.

Hopefully this weekend provides me with a little better opportunity, oh....and the birds have got to cooperate also.

Another frame of the male Northern Harrier, gray ghost, flying past me. I wish I had a repeat of this morning. The weather never cooperated for the next 3 mornings.

you cannot plan this, but when light and wind cooperate...Black Guillemot times 2

Ok i admit - i had to bribe the squirrels to cooperate for the photo shoot but they were very willing models once they saw what was in it for them.

I missed one shot - because it startled us - as we were feeding one of the squirrels a hawk dropped down out of the sky and tried unsuccessfully to pinch my model - fortunately the squirrel was paying attention and dashed out of reach in the nick of time. What a life!

These are the pretty asters I brought home from the cutflower field last week. They are beginning to fade now but are still looking surprisingly good and I thought I should take another photo. The mice cooperated happily. :)

when the weather is not cooperating I go back to the archives!

Several juvenile Kingbirds took turns perching on these branches, and I kept trying to capture one as it flew off, but each time the bird turned away and offered only a butt shot. Finally this one cooperated😊

Yesterday, mother nature cooperated in helping me capture an interesting pic of the day with a thick fog. The cows just added a nice element.

This was taken near sunrise in Memory Grove Park. I took a stroll around the North end of Salt Lake City just before this. I've been dealing with foot injury problems in recent months. My feet cooperated generally today. That and reduced travel from the pandemic have considerably altered my usual routine.

This is my post for this week's theme 'Toy' of the 'Happy Caturday' group. It seemed like an easy theme but we had nice weather and my photo models preferred to annoy birds and to chase each other in the garden instead of wasting time on a toy. I managed to convince Filou to cooperate but had to try several toys until these feathers finally caught his interest for a short moment. :) Happy Caturday !

Bengough, Saskatchewan.

I saw a couple of deer on Wednesday when leaving a property so I pulled over to takes some photos. I really wanted to get two of them in one photo but they wouldn't cooperate. 😃 I always enjoy seeing deer, rabbits, eagles etc during work. Always a blessing to my day.

I hope everyone has a happy Friday tomorrow too.

We made the trek from Pittsburgh to Cleveland this morning for Porsche of Beachwood Cars and Coffee but the weather didn't cooperate. Although it didn't actually rain until early afternoon the dreary weather kept almost all the exotics and supercars away. PoB brought this GT3 and Boxster out and there were a few R8's and a GT4. It was fun to catch up with a few friends at the show though.
