The HOBOnet TEROS 21 is a wireless sensor that works with the HOBOnet system to measure both soil temperature and soil water potential, a more accurate way to measure how much water is available to plants. The HOBOnet TEROS 21 Sensor is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, and it doesn’t require calibration for different soil types or salinity.

The HOBOnet system is a cost-effective and scalable option for web-enabled monitoring of field conditions for applications such as crop management, research, and greenhouse operations. And because it’s wireless, you can deploy a network of sensors to easily monitor multiple points with a single system, while avoiding the risk of long cables that can interfere with field operations and are potentially vulnerable to nearby lightning strikes.

Sensors are easily linked to the network, and data can be accessed through HOBOlink®, Onset's innovative cloud-based software platform.

• Highlighted Features

• Soil water potential and soil temperature measurements with one device

• A more accurate picture of the amount of water available to plants than volumetric water content sensors

• No calibration required for soil type or salinity

• Long-lasting and maintenance-free with durable epoxy construction

• Wide measurement range: -9 to -2000 kPa

Taken somewhere on the flight from Rome to New York.

A cloud is a visible mass of droplets, in other words, little drops of water or frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another planetary body. A cloud is also a visible mass attracted by gravity, such as masses of material in space called interstellar clouds and nebulae. Clouds are studied in the nephology or cloud physics branch of meteorology.

On Earth the condensing substance is typically water vapor, which forms small droplets or ice crystals, typically 0.01 mm (0.00039 in) in diameter. When surrounded by billions of other droplets or crystals they become visible as clouds. Dense deep clouds exhibit a high reflectance (70% to 95%) throughout the visible range of wavelengths. They thus appear white, at least from the top. Cloud droplets tend to scatter light efficiently, so that the intensity of the solar radiation decreases with depth into the gases, hence the gray or even sometimes dark appearance at the cloud base. Thin clouds may appear to have acquired the color of their environment or background and clouds illuminated by non-white light, such as during sunrise or sunset, may appear colored accordingly. Clouds look darker in the near-infrared because water absorbs solar radiation at those wavelengths.

Great atmospherics caused by a threatening dark cloud base over most of the area, but the sun burst through and lit The Cobb. Used a screw-on Hoya 49mm 10 stop ND filter, plus the built-in 3 stop ND in the X100T, to give a whopping 13 stops, hence the 26 sec exposure.

A summary of Ops 25-34.

Operation 25 to Ludwigshafen was in Lancaster PM-C with airframe PD427. Takeoff was 15:36 and landing was 22:44. Target markers were bombed at 19:18.30 from 16,000ft.

Operation 27 to Elbe Estuary was in Lancaster PM-X with airframe PD236. Takeoff was 17:40 and landing was 22:13. Target was bombed by H2S at 20:10.30 from 15,000ft. The aircraft was hit and damaged by flak on the return trip. None of the crew sustained any injuries and landed safely at Elsham Wolds. The above information was taken from the Squadron ORB's. First hand information from the Flight Engineer differs greatly with this. According to him, they dropped from about 1500ft and the damage was sustained by a hit from a night fighter, taking the top off the rudder and the starboard wing tip.

Operation 28 to Kleve was in Lancaster PM-C with airframe PD427. Takeoff was 18:57.30 and landing was 00:14. Target was bombed by Gee at 22:03 from 5,000ft. The master bomber ordered the bomber stream to 5000ft due to low cloud base that night.

Every year towards the end of summer, heather blooms into flowers covers the peaks of Quantock Hills with purple. On this particular morning, a temperature inversion caused the cloud base to fall to the sea level. Clouds extended for miles in each direction and the peaks of quantocks were barely above the cloud level. Every once in a while, some of the clouds would drift over the peaks and fill the valleys in-between, creating a stunning atmosphere.

I had hoped for a closer view of the Red Arrows heading from Waddington to Valley prior to attending the Blackpool Airshow. At least I saw them from Moel y Waun. On Saturday an ill-timed lowering of the cloud base and some drizzle arrived just as the display team were due to fly over Belmont Reservoir in the West Pennine Moors. They diverted to avoid the moorland section of their route from and to Blackpool!

66 056 is seen in the upper reaches of Dentdale between Dent station (the highest in England) and Arten Gill Viaduct. The cloud base was proably little more than 2000ft. The train is 6K05 12.21 Carlisle Kingmoor Yard to Crewe Basford Hall Yard conveying 13 'Falcon' wagons loaded with contaminated spoil which basically consisted of mud and rubble mixed in with track ballast for unloading at Crewe Gresty Road ballast tip. Just visible on the hillside behind the last wagon are the rotting remains of the last snow fences on this line which were rows of sleepers on end to stop drifting snow.

The new cellular, web-enabled HOBO® MicroRX station is partnered with Onset’s own water level sensor to deliver water level and flow monitoring data to cloud-based HOBOlink® software. Spend more time focusing on results, and less time on configuration and data access.

Key Advantages:

•Eliminate complicated manual calculations with pre-programmed water flow formulas

•Act quickly in response to alarms triggered at time of measurement for water flow and accumulated rainfall

•Reduce maintenance visits with the non-vented water level sensor

•Deploy in harsh conditions with the tough, compact station

•Monitor multiple environmental parameters with the flexibility of Onset’s suite of smart sensors

The HOBOnet TEROS 12 is a wireless sensor that works with the HOBOnet system to not only provide advanced soil moisture (volumetric water content) measurements with better accuracy and precision but also measure soil temperature and electrical conductivity. Designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, these durable sensors last up to 10 years, so you can leave them in the field for extended periods of time. Sharpened stainless-steel probe tips make installation easy, even in hard soil, and a large volume of influence provides more accurate results.

The HOBOnet system is a cost-effective and scalable wireless sensor network for web-enabled monitoring of field conditions for applications such as crop management, research, and greenhouse operations.
