"Hydrangea paniculata 'Tardiva' 2014, panicle hydrangea, hye-DRAIN-juh puh-nick-you-LAY-tuh, 8x10 ft Shrub,Z3, white, S4 C3

Vigorous, upright, rapidly growing, somewhat coarsely textured, deciduous shrub which grows 8-12'. I plan on trimming to keep it smaller, maybe to 6 feet. Also, seems like it can be trained as a tree. Planted 2013."

Castle Clinton, now located in Battery Park, was originally a fort constructed between 1808 and 1811 to protect against British forces in the War of 1812. Battery Park was later extended to include the fort which has been used for many purposes over the years. After its days as a fort, it was the original immigration point pre-dating Ellis Island, and was also a public aquarium. Today, it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Estos son los trozos de una motosierra Clinton que hay en mi casa.

St Michael's stands close to Baddesley Clinton Manor House, but is separated by a long leafy path and thus entirely surround by trees and rural beauty. It is generally kept open (I had the misfortune to find it locked on my first visit, which surprised the locals I met, but it has been open each time since).

It is a small building, simple chancel & nave with a tower, which appears to be entirely late medieval though the nave walls below the clerestorey are much earlier. The best feature inside is the five light east window, containing some much restored glass of the Tudor period, featuring a Crucifixion flanked by SS George & Catherine & Donors (two generations of the Ferrers family). The chancel also contains a late medieval tomb chest under an arch, recoloured but oddly lacking any kind of effigy or brass, just a plain slab on top.

It is a church of great charm that, unlike many in these parts, has had minimal Victorian intervention. For more see its entry on the Warwickshire Churches site below:-

The substantial ruins of the twelfth century church at Buildwas Abbey, a Cistercian foundation established alongside the River Severn. Dedicated to St Mary and St Chad, the abbey was built in 1135 by Roger de Clinton, Bishop of Coventry. It closed in 1536, as part of Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries, and was later absorbed into a private dwelling occupied by the Acton Moseley family. Buildwas Abbey is now in the care of English Heritage.

A closer look at the building in the previous photo. A simple structure, but it seems to me to have a certain stateliness about it, even in its partially restored condition.

I believe the style is Italianate, but feel free to correct/confirm.

The Clinton Historical Society confirms it is Italianate. The third story was originally a dance hall back in the 19th Century. There was also a structure between the two main buildings at one time. This building became the Clinton Savings Bank in 1903.
