Breakers Bar and Grill, 211 East Adams Street, Clinton, Illinois. Steaks, billiards, and spirits!

Farmrail. I need a break from sitting in front of this computer for hours uploading, tagging, mapping and all that every time I get home. I need to get some shit done and I'm tired. Need to refocus a bit. A couple of weeks should do it, so I'll be back in June.

This barn is getting torn down this Tuesday - 4-24-07! It's on County X, just southwest of Clinton - intersection known as "Clinton Corners" I think. Check out Map link to right.

I made a trip to Clinton on November 13. Clinton is a small town about 20 miles southwest of

Ann Arbor, where I live. This church was built ca. 1841 as the Methodist Church and was the

oldest Methodist Church in continuous use in Michigan until the congregation built a new church.

This building is now for sale and a small congregation called First Rock Church is renting part

of it.. I hope a worthy buyer will be found.

nrhp # 82003277- The old mill in Clinton, New Jersey, has been called both Dunham's Mill and Parry's Mill, after its first two owners. In 1836, Charles and James Dunham built the current fieldstone mill on the ashes of an earlier mill. In 1843, Samuel Parry purchased the mill which he (and, later, his son Edward) worked until 1909.(1)

Perry's Mill now houses the Hunterdon Museum of Art. According to one source, Just before the South Branch of the Raritan unfolds at the Clinton falls, the river's banks are home for two long-time repositories of New Jersey's history and culture. On the west bank, the landmark Red Mill, built in about 1812 to process wool, has played host to a succession of industries and activities spawned by the region's remarkably rich agriculture. In the 1830s a large stone mill rose across the river on the east bank where the proprietors stuck to grinding grain, the reigning business at this site since Colonial times. The two mills stood and stand yet as eloquent testimony to a once keen harmony between man's needs and Nature's possibilities. In 1952 a group composed of artists and community leaders acquired the stone gristmill for use as a nonprofit cultural center.

Clinton Street was starting to revitalize when this was taken in 1989. The Discovery Center (which would later move to the Armory, expand about a million times in size, and be called MOST) was tucked in one of these buildings. So was Cole Typewriter, one of several typewriter sales and repair stores that wouldn't be in existence just a few short years later. At this time, they were probably realizing that "word processors" weren't going to survive the PC revolution.

University of Iowa Health Care partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to host an educational experience, Pennies for Patients. LLS challenged middle school students to collect pennies which would be donated to LLS. The top two schools had the opportunity to visit UI Health Care for an educational experience. We would like to congratulate the winning schools, Clinton Middle School and MFL Marmac Middle School for all of their fundraising efforts.

These students learned about research being done on cancer at the UI Carver College of Medicine. They sat in a presentation with Dr. George J Weiner and then toured the research labs of Dr. Weiner, Gail Bishop, and Al Klingelhutz to better understand cancer and what it would be like to work in research. Students then engaged in hands-on activities with current medical students at the Carver College of Medicine to simulate what medical school is like. Activities included learning about bone health and the healing process of casting, and learning how to take basic physical exams through the use of stethoscopes, reflex hammers and blood pressure cuffs. Finally students had a Q & A session with two current Carver College of Medicine students who gave them a behind-the-scenes look at what being a medical student is really like to help them determine if that is something they would want to pursue in their futures.

A special thanks to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, UI Hospitals and Clinics Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the UI Carver College of Medicine as this program would not have been possible without such great partnerships.

University of Iowa Health Care is committed partners with formal and informal educators and community organizations across the state to advance STEM literacy to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and build a foundation for children to understanding their own health. In FY2015, more than 16,000 school age children were engaged in hands on learning provided by 260 faculty, staff and students.
