The top of the Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland.

Did a quick road trip this May to see the Jays in Cleveland. Rather watch them play on the road any day than to watch them in that concrete jungle they call home.

Cleveland, 2018

Cleveland Damn is always a beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver. Even more so in fall.

The most finely detailed Tudor Revival house I have come across in my adventures around various neighborhoods is this house on Shore Acres Drive in Cleveland’s North Collinwood neighborhood. Constructed sometime in the early 20th Century, the ornately detailed house has half-timbering on the second floor, which has several ornamental trim pieces, including very detailed bargeboard over the front door, and a small cartouche below the window on the third floor. The half-timbering includes several unique sections where diamond and four-leaf clover motifs are present. The first floor is dark orange brick, interrupted by the front entrance, with an ornately detailed front door and half timbered sides, as well as a two-car garage with doors that terminate vertically in a Gothic arch. This is one of several notable houses in the neat old subdivisions along this portion of Cleveland’s Lakefront, which once boasted two amusement parks, Manhattan Beach/White City, and Euclid Beach, which have since closed, leaving only a few traces of their presence. However, though there is a strong homeowners’ association in this neighborhood that has been present since it was developed in the 1920s, there is no National Register of Historic Places listing, which I would argue should be done for the architectural significance of many of the houses in the neighborhood, and the Lakefront location that could potentially lead to future development pressure. This overlooked area is one of Cleveland’s many amazing hidden secrets, tucked away from where most residents and tourists venture.

This bridge is part of the Cleveland Ohio national parks. I love the way it looks with its muted winter colors. It is such a majestic bridge. I remember that it was freezing cold the day I took this picture. This was a family vacation that I will never forget. I am from California. We decided that we would visit for a family reunion in Ohio during the winter time. I am glad we did.

Here is a photo of the Cleveland Thermal Steam Plant that I intended to submit as my Week 33 entry for Abandoned. This building has stood on the Cuyahoga since 1894. There is a lot of development happening in this area, and I initially thought this building would be demolished for the major project planned for the location. However, someone I know who is doing construction on the site mentioned that all the demolition has been completed and development has begun—so it seems the building will remain. I hope it gets transformed into something that can be used and enjoyed by the public.

A westbound BNSF Railway coal train crosses a causeway west of Cleveland, North Dakota, on BNSF's Jamestown Subdivision. I unloaded just about every fake flower I had in the back of my truck for this one. Do you like how I threw in some purple ones just to mix it up a little?

We walked in the snow and froze our toes off.

MARC E8 A 60 was built as Illinois Central 4023, then rebuilt as NJT 4327.. Clever way to protect the cab windows, but obviously these are left unattended in a Cleveland yard. Not many places where you can see a row of E units.
