Pairs of statues designed by sculptor Henry Hering and architect Frank Walker (titled the "Guardians of Traffic") stand on pylons at each end of the viaduct, symbolizing progress in transportation.

M/V Minervagracht enters Cleveland Harbor on a quiet Tuesday morning. The Minervagracht is a general cargo ship built in 2011 and sailing under the flag of the Netherlands. It is 142 meters in length with a beam of 19 meters.

Built in 1855 the church was originally a Presbyterian Church however in later years it was used as an Anglican Church.

SP 9793 leads a wild consist that includes an Amtrak F40PH and a Montana Rail Link SD40. The train is headed south on Union Pacific's Lufkin Sub, at the crossing with BNSF's Conroe Sub in Cleveland, TX. A little over a year had passed since Southern Pacific was merged with Union Pacific, yet widespread service issues remained. During this time of transition, the railroad was chronically short of power and crews. Amtrak F40PHs were leased and pressed into freight service. The MRL SD40 was most likely leased for this reason as well.

Not to many places carry Cleveland Browns stuff these days. Found these on a clearance table at an Ohio Turnpike rest stop.

Just west of Cleveland on the Ohio Turnpike. Still have 300 miles to go!

On a rainy spring day 2011, on the shore of Lake Erie, the distinct triangular shape of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, opening to the public in September of 1995 12 years in the making. This beautiful museum is the work of world-renowned architect I.M. Pei and ground was broken for the structure in June of 1993. The first induction of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was held in New York back in 1986. There were thoughts of keeping the Hall of Fame in New York. In addition to New York and Cleveland, Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Memphis and Chicago all made proposals to be the host city for the museum. Cleveland was awarded the site of the permanent home for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. I remember local New York DJ’s like Don Imus (who's radio program still hadn’t become so politically oriented at that time) making New York City’s case as the correct location to no avail back then in 1986. The artifacts are remarkable and extensive and honestly I’ve been there twice and want to return to see what I didn’t get to see. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame welcomed over 8 million visitor since its opening.

Did a quick road trip this May to see the Jays in Cleveland. Rather watch them play on the road any day than to watch them in that concrete jungle they call home.

Cleveland Damn is always a beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver. Even more so in fall.

The most finely detailed Tudor Revival house I have come across in my adventures around various neighborhoods is this house on Shore Acres Drive in Cleveland’s North Collinwood neighborhood. Constructed sometime in the early 20th Century, the ornately detailed house has half-timbering on the second floor, which has several ornamental trim pieces, including very detailed bargeboard over the front door, and a small cartouche below the window on the third floor. The half-timbering includes several unique sections where diamond and four-leaf clover motifs are present. The first floor is dark orange brick, interrupted by the front entrance, with an ornately detailed front door and half timbered sides, as well as a two-car garage with doors that terminate vertically in a Gothic arch. This is one of several notable houses in the neat old subdivisions along this portion of Cleveland’s Lakefront, which once boasted two amusement parks, Manhattan Beach/White City, and Euclid Beach, which have since closed, leaving only a few traces of their presence. However, though there is a strong homeowners’ association in this neighborhood that has been present since it was developed in the 1920s, there is no National Register of Historic Places listing, which I would argue should be done for the architectural significance of many of the houses in the neighborhood, and the Lakefront location that could potentially lead to future development pressure. This overlooked area is one of Cleveland’s many amazing hidden secrets, tucked away from where most residents and tourists venture.

This bridge is part of the Cleveland Ohio national parks. I love the way it looks with its muted winter colors. It is such a majestic bridge. I remember that it was freezing cold the day I took this picture. This was a family vacation that I will never forget. I am from California. We decided that we would visit for a family reunion in Ohio during the winter time. I am glad we did.
