Frogs arrived in our pond more than two weeks ago during a brief mild spell. Since then, the weather has been freezing with overnight frosts, but the frogs have stayed put in spite of the cold. This morning really does feel more like a spring temperature and once again the frogs are activated and busy with their annual activities. It's a topsy turvy season but I hope their newly laid spawn will be successful this time. Photographing frogs through plastic mesh netting [ for protection from cats ] is fraught with difficulty. I did just manage a snap this morning but getting the camera through a narrow gap without disturbing the frog requires patience and a steady hand. This shot is clearly quite an enlargement but I only managed the one snap before froggy submerged. I enjoyed the reflection of the adjacent palm tree at the back of the frog's head.

A couple of birders had thrown some seed onto the snow to entice the local birds to come down but red squirrels, smart little critters that they are, watched all the activity and decided they wanted in on the action too. This little guy chattered up a storm - clearly unhappy that I was in his way. I had just enough time to grab a quick closeup before he jumped out of my frame. Cute as he or she was with his icy whiskers, squirrels are my nemesis as they have defeated virtually every one of my attempts to keep them out of our bird feeders.

In case anyone is frightened by temperature changes of our planet.

Grok Question:

Average annual temperature of Yukon compared to Hawaii?

Answer:

The average annual temperature in Yukon, Canada, is considerably lower than in Hawaii due to their vastly different climatic conditions:

* Yukon: Given its subarctic climate, the average annual temperature varies by region, but for Whitehorse, a significant city in Yukon, the average would be around 0°C (32°F). However, considering the entire Yukon territory, including colder areas, the average might be even lower, possibly around -2°C to -4°C (28°F to 24°F).

* Hawaii: With its tropical climate, the average annual temperature for Hawaii is much higher, typically around 75-78°F (24-26°C) at sea level. This average can slightly vary between islands but remains consistently warm year-round.

So, when comparing the average annual temperature:

* Yukon: Approximately -2°C to 0°C (28°F to 32°F).

* Hawaii: Approximately 24°C to 26°C (75°F to 78°F).

This comparison clearly shows Hawaii's much warmer climate in contrast to Yukon's cold, subarctic conditions.

Rosguill Peninsula, Melmore, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland

Three of my favourite beaches are captured on this photo. Firstly, you can see the stunning ‘Boyeeghter Bay’ or as most know it as “The Murder Hole Beach” in the foreground. Behind it’s shadowing hill of ‘Gortnalughoge’ can be seen ‘Tra Na Rossan Beach’ & if your eyes are really sharp then you may just see ‘Tramore Beach’ in the extreme distance under the clouds on ‘Sheephaven Bay’ with ‘Muckish Mountain’ to the right.

This photo clearly shows the very reason I love Ireland so much! There aren’t many other places that I’ve visited in the world that has so many pristine beauty spots all at such close proximity from each other. Especially in this area of north Donegal, as you can visit a beach, then travel a few minutes to arrive at an even prettier beach, castle, mountain etc

I can proudly say that the slogan “Ireland has it all” could not be any truer in my humble opinion ☘️

Clearly someone from the Duke's family, or perhaps the Duke himself, has been on safari in Africa at some time.

I must add that, coming from Africa myself, this rug did make me feel a little homesick.

Few people know so clearly what they want. Most people can't even think what to hope for when they throw a penny in a fountain.

I clearly remember when we first met.

We enjoyed talking about our Rolleiflex and places we visited.

Rolleiflex brought us to become friends.

I really like how she value others.

She is truly a wonderful and warmhearted woman.

I hope she had a wonderful birthday and wish her a happy year ahead.

This was clearly my highlight of the Bastille Day military parade on July 14th, 2021. The DGA (Directorate General of Armaments, Direction Générale de l'Armement in French) celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2021. For the occasion, they sent a Mirage 2000 and two Alphajets for the parade over Paris.

I was lucky to be invited in Evreux AFB for the departure of the fighters taking part in the parade over Paris.

This Mirage 2000B is very different from the others: as you can see, it is equipped with a Rafale nose cone. Indeed, this airframe is used as a Rafale test bed with the RBE2 radar and the OSF. One of its other particularities is the absence of the refuelling probe, making it look like a Peruvian Mirage 2000.

Rossendale's Panopticon, 'Halo', is an 18m-diameter steel lattice structure supported on a tripod five metres above the ground. From its position on Top o' Slate, an old quarry and former landfill site situated in the hills above Haslingden in the Rossendale Valley, it is clearly visible for miles around.

'Halo' is lit at night using the latest LED technology and after dark glows a sky-blue colour, appearing to hover above the town. This dramatic gateway piece overlooks the A56, welcoming visitors to Pennine Lancashire.

On this day, I didn’t have the patience/time/bandwidth .

HFF!!

This is the color version of one of the images from my black and white series 'Into The Cypress Swamps' that won me the overall title in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition a few months ago.

This one also has a more panoramic look, which was not possible for the bw version as that one was part of a series. It’s my favorite shot of the series, clearly because I’m in it. And the light isn’t too bad either.

The image was shot with a remote control - the camera was on a tripod that I carefully positioned in the water.

If you would to see this amazing scenery yourself - we have set up the world's first Cypress Swamps photo tour to Louisiana and Texas. The 2016 tour is already fully booked, and there are only 6 spaces left on our three 2017 tours. If you're interested, don't hesitate and reserve your spot here: www.squiver.com

This is a unique photo adventure (until the usual suspects start copying us again) that will result in unique images. We will take you to the best spots and give you tons of tips on how to get the best results. And on how to prevent you from unwillingly donating your camera gear to the swamp gods - proper kayak technique! I know you’re interested, so why not have a look at the tour brochure here: ow.ly/R5fl1003dHi

Looking forward to paddling with you!

Clearly they didn't get the memo that it's summer

Clearly this water level rise has happened over time but it's not clear why. The house appears to be within diked areas adjacent to the Columbia River. It likely was built in the early 1900's but can't tell from a distance when it might last have been inhabited.

The Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seen clearly along the banks of the Snake River as the morning fog lifts.

Another shot of the amazing County of Lac Ste. Anne Owl, clearly showing its band in this shot.

Well, I must confess: all this "West Dune Customs" stuff I came up with, should have been just something to introduce my new MOC. Obviously it got completely out of control, gaining its own dignity, so I hope you won't be disappointed with the real MOC.

Here it is, a X-34 Tatooine landspeeder revamped in a Classic Space way, another Classic Space - Star Wars mashup from me, after Rey's speeder. What's wrong with me and speeders?

I got the same idea my friend billyburg got, but he's clearly a faster builder than me, so he uploaded his version (billyburg's classic space landspeeder) to Flickr more than a month ago. I love his version so much that I almost gave up building mine; I didn't want to give the impression of copying other people's work. Luckily, this thought lasted just less than a day...

No piece has been cut or glued. For the "snot reversal tecniques" I used on the rear of the speeder and on the side of the seats I have to thank kosbrick and his tutorials.

For the turbines design credits to Larry Lars. As I already wrote, I tried at least three different versions of the turbines, but I ended up using his, the one, eventually, I was happiest with.

I think it's a very hot landspeeder, but I am, obviously, not impartial. Maybe a little too long, but at the West Dune Custom they had to lenghten the chassis to install such a badass engine. ;-)

And the license plate? Well, 1970 is the year I was born, so LL970 was a straight choice... :D

Clearly another juvenile behind my main subject but it made me do a double take for a moment.

Oh God of the stars, the sun, and the moon, the One who commands the wind and quiets the sea—Your presence fills the vast expanse of creation. Yet what humbles me most is not the enormity of Your reach, but the intimacy of Your nearness. You know the craters of distant planets and the secrets of galaxies untold, as clearly as the lines on Your hand. And still, You see me. You care for my small, imperfect world with a love so vast it defies comprehension.

How can I grasp such wonder? That the One who set the stars in place would be mindful of me? Teach me to marvel at this mystery, to rest in the comfort of being fully known and deeply loved.

Della clearly didn't think it was a good idea when this little elf suggested she and Tug trade hats this year. It has always been Della's job to help light the way for Santa with her bright blue eyes. Come on now...can you really picture Tug up there helping out Rudolph and Santa!!!

The West Indian Carnival at Leeds - 29th August 2022

...but he was clearly giving me the cold shoulder! haha I crack myself up! Which is a good thing! Being easily entertained is an efficient form of self preservation! The snowy realms are upon us in SL. And in my case, only in SL! I live in southern Georgia, land of very mild and awesome winters...and no snow!

I scampered into this snowy sim, and within a few moments of being there, a random passer by **tossed me a sweater** so I wouldn't freeze to death! And then asked if I wanted to go ice skating! You know, it was uncannily good timing, and so I went with it, and it was so much fun! I don't have random adventures in SL any more. I shop, I buy dogs, I play dress up, and this! I was not feeling super happy tonight...residual nearly gone blue mood still lingering from a couple of days ago, and then this random encounter with someone funny and nice and kind just made my evening. After that, I felt like working on a photo to show off this fantastic tattoo from Corazon! I love it, and had to have it as soon as I saw it! And now, I am going to sleep! haha How's that for a run down!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! xo 💕

It's been a fuzzy past couple of days :)

Of course, the one day in a while when I have the time and desire to find a nice outdoor location, it rains. Posing in heels and a homemade dress instead.

Happy Saturday to all.

Cloudy days are a pain when you're on the clock, but they do offer great backgrounds if you're lucky.
