Clearly my little friends have been left unsupervised far too long !!

....when mom’s away the bears will play !!

Clearly an experienced shopper, not through age, but having a bag inside a zimmer inside a trolley says, "I've done this many times before."

Female Goldfinch poses on a quaking aspen tree. State bird of Washington (state—added to distinguish it most clearly from D.C.).

Many thanks for looking. No need to comment.

You can clearly see the loss of feathers on Dad. Mom looses her feathers first, so that she can not fly away, leaving her young alone. Mom grows hers back then it is Dad's turn to loose his. They are starting to slowly come back now, the young learn to fly so both parents need there feathers so they can teach them to fly together. Dad will take a little longer as he was last to loose them.

I only spotted this herd after we had briefly seen an eagle and a buzzard overhead.

The deer were clearly agitated and hardly glanced in our direction.

Many thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos. It is truly appreciated.

For this week's theme I looked around the house and found many items with imperfections, they didn't all look nice though. In the end I settled on this brush which is for cleaning mushrooms. Two holes so far, probably more in the making. I thought it looked quite nice close up, I never realized the way the wood looks for instance and that it looks elegant the way one bundle of bristles leans over into the empty space.

Clearly not an airborne Spitfire, but the memorial at Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. I thought I'd have a bit of fun with this image, while hopefully retaining a sense of gratitude for the sacrifice made by so many during the Battle of Britain.

I was alone and clearly need glasses. The lens isn't auto-focus and so I just made an educated guess about the distance. Failed clearly.

This Is the Sea, by The Waterboys

These things you keep

You'd better throw them away

You wanna turn your back

On your soulless days

Once you were tethered

And now you are free

Once you were tethered

Well now you are free

That was the river

This is the sea!

Now if you're feelin' weary

If you've been alone too long

Maybe you've been suffering from

A few too many

Plans that have gone wrong

And you're trying to remember

How fine your life used to be

Running around banging your drum

Like it's 1973

Well that was the river

This is the sea!

Wooo!

Now you say you've got trouble

You say you've got pain

You say've got nothing left to believe in

Nothing to hold on to

Nothing to trust

Nothing but chains

You're scouring your conscience

Raking through your memories

Scouring your conscience

Raking through your memories

Scouring your conscience

Raking through your memories

But that was the river

This is the sea yeah!

Now I can see you wavering

As you try to decide

You've got a war in your head

And it's tearing you up inside

You're trying to make sense

Of something that you just can't see

Trying to make sense now

And you know you once held the key

But that was the river

And this is the sea!

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Now I hear there's a train

It's coming on down the line

It's yours if you hurry

You've got still enough time

And you don't need no ticket

And you don't pay no fee

No you don't need no ticket

You don't pay no fee

Because that was the river

And this is the sea!

Behold the sea!

I can see clearly now the rain is gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone

All of the bad feelings have disappeared

Here is the rainbow I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies

Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Here's the rainbow I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

Real, real, real, real bright, bright sunshinin' day

Yeah, hey, it's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

(otis Redding)

Oh yeah - what more is there to say after that!!!

Pointing the camera back at myself this morning for a challenging image. How to get my eye in focus was an exercise in patience. I woke up and felt hopeful today and wanted to remember this feeling. I cringe at my heavy eyelids and wrinkles but am trying to accept myself as is. Sharing a message of self love and acceptance today.

Clearly they were bored and not in favor of having their photo taken, lol!

I wish the lyrics were true but I think the whole world has gone mad and so many hurting.

So I am offering up a sunny image of Mt Cook in New Zealand on clear day. It is not that often that the top of Mt Cook (Aoraki) can be seen as it is so often shrouded in heavy cloud (as it was the following day on our return). I couldn't resist some emphasis on the sky for this image.

I am hopefully adding some sunshine to your day, even if that is not how you feel on the inside.

Sending Big hugs (virtual so no chance of spreading the virus) and a sense of calm and wellbeing to everyone.

Yellow, white, green – sand, water, forest. An island from a bird's-eye view? And little dark dots – are these three groups a new tiny population in nowhereland?

/

I do not know how that happens in the last time, but I keep discovering tiny things in my kitchen. Maybe, because I look closer, because something like spring cleaning takes place ;-) and I clean up? Well, I found this object, which had already landed in the compost bin. I noticed the pretty colourfulness (pastel ;-) ...) and I quickly grabbed it again to photograph it ...

Ok, the little dots may not be living creatures – they're tiny crumbs of coffee grounds. And it's not a yellow-and-white-green landscape, as you've probably already suspected ... Do you know what it is?

Seriously, how do you "unpack" a boat from the second story of a yacht?

This thing was mammoth, I wish now I had taken some shots of it from a wide angle, but I was fixated on the boat within a boat... why, yes, I am easily amused! =D

Clearly, the Falcon doesn't like Feathers! Lovely bright green feathers - bad to taste, but great to adorn!

In our backyard, we got around 8" of snow Wednesday night and yesterday. Ick.

This shot clearly shows the small black moustache and streaked crest (sometimes raised in display) of this colourful crow. Jays eat acorns all the year round and sometimes feed them to their young. They play a major part in maintaining and spreading Oak woodland. Autumn is a good time of year for seeing this secretive woodland bird as they set about collecting huge numbers of acorns as winter food, storing them in tree cavities, under dead leaves and in the ground, some of which are not found and go on to germinate.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

Clearly, many believe that vital restoration work is being carried out on the upper reaches of the Royal Liver Building. I think that now, the Liver Birds are getting a little older, instead of flying off to feed in Lower Heswall or the mudflats of Garston, under the cover of darkness, kind members of the public have donated magic bird seed which is placed in the feeding tray we see here in place. Soon, I might be tempted to set up my tripod in the gardens of the Parish Church of Liverpool and spend a night watching them both feeding in secret. I will post my pictures here, of course.

The course closed sign is clearly visible here. The lock down restrictions had just come into place in Tasmania, and so this beautiful course lay idle. The old clubhouse (originally dating from the 1920s) sits on the top of a hill. At the rear you get a beautiful view of Bell Bay on the Tamar River.

The course location is limited in size with bushland on the east and water on the west, so the club operates a nine hole course. Go around twice for the regular 18 hole round. But it is a lovely picturesque site.

For this photograph I decided to give it a golden glow. The sky is a sepia tint and the clubhouse and foreground is in subdued colours.

Thomas Merton clearly found his gift and spent his life giving it away. When Merton spoke of communion being the deepest level of communication possible, I again remember the words of Victor Frankl: "Whenever you are talking to yourself in utmost sincerity and ultimate solitude, he to whom you are referring may justifiably be called" God. Merton was touched with a living fire that burned with radical curiosity for ever-deepening levels of being, knowing and faithfulness before his Creator.

It’s getting harder to do.

"and not a very convincing one at that!"

"What about the other one, that currently appears to be approaching us at a higher velocity than I should prefer?"

A common resident kingfisher found throughout the country and apparently the most commonly found kingfisher in the world. Shot this picture on the banks of a nearly dry lake and there wasn't much bird activity. There were two of these, male and female which were actively hunting in the water - they made maybe around 5-6 dives each, and one of them had a bit of luck catching a fish.

The birds were at the beginning of nesting season and the birds had clearly coupled - they were together much of the time. The female was clearly dominating and setting the tone, while the male was hunting. I don't think the nest is ready yet - the birds tend to set up a nest on the mud walls of the banks. And that area had plenty of them.

Thank you very much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

Clearly this cactus wren has been into some fruit based on that purple around his beak. From the color probably prickly pear cactus fruit. He's rather puffed up after having just preened. The cactus wren is Arizona's state bird, in case you care.

Potawatomi Woods during the morning fog

This photo shows clearly the only means I know how to tell the difference between male and female northern yellow-shafted flickers, (Colaptes auratus). The male flicker (below) has clearly defined black mustache stripes; the female, leaving the nest cavity, does not.

They are so very busy these days, with nine hatchlings. Constantly bringing home and regurgitating bugs for the nestlings, which are now quite noisy when they hear a parent land on the tree outside the cavity. Otherwise, they are completely quiet.

Soon the nestlings will be big enough to climb up the inside of the cavity and poke their heads out, and call for food to supply their constant growth. Those who are most able will be fed most often. Those not first to the food line will likely be overcome by their siblings, and starve.

Clearly a close knit family. They are aware of my presence, moving away slowly, but I am just far enough back and just still enough to avoid flushing them. Northern Bobwhites on Old Port Isabel Road in Cameron County, Texas.
