sit the Seven, the Lords of the Cycles,

The city is a heaving, sighing senseless beast - arms, legs, noise and stifling heat pressing in on you, squeezing you out. Then the rains come and for the smallest moment you get to feel free. Or at least a little cleaner.

I took a total of 1,210 shots from this photo shoot. I was determine to get some good ones. haha. I had to put a towl over my camera so it wouldnt get wet and i had to walk back and forth to make sure the photos were in focus and looked good. But it was fun.
I'm going to upload more sometime today.
I read a lot about the ritual of burning sage when we were in Wyoming. It's basically used to rid a space of any negative energy, illness, etc.... anything that you want to eliminate. This is a white sage bundle I brought back from the Teton mountains last summer. I burned it recently, not necessarily to eliminate anything bad but more for the smell (I love wood burning smoke and sage smells so.... good) but as I went around the house, I couldn't help but try and spread some positive energy along with the rising smoke. Not sure exactly what this ritual did but the house sure smelled good afterward. :-)

It is a custom to cleanse your hands and mouth prior to praying at Japanese temples.
At the purification fountain near the shrine's entrance, take one of the ladles provided, fill it with fresh water and rinse both hands. Then transfer some water into your cupped hand, rinse your mouth and spit the water beside the fountain.
You are not supposed to transfer the water directly from the ladle into your mouth or swallow the water. You will notice that quite a few visitors skip the mouth rinsing part or the purification ritual altogether.
