hello friends. haven't posted anything for a long time. why? I got covid but have fully recovered!

from the first sign of an itch right in the middle of my throat, getting tested, full-on symptoms, plus a week or so of recovery- 21 days total. I thought it was a cold, but instead of getting better in 4 days, it got incrementally worse.

luckily and fortunately, my symptoms remained mild. no fever, no cough, no trouble of breathing. I did have crazy fatigue, body aches, 0 appetite, and diarrhea. I had major brain fog, couldn’t concentrate, just didn’t have the energy to think. you know that blah feeling of a having a flu, but worse. felt like a fever but no fever with a normal 97-degree. I didn’t leave my house for 21 days, watched a ton of tv, drank water like mad, and downed a lot of tylenols.

on the 3rd week, the symptoms incrementally faded oh so slowly. I would get stomach ache but no diarrhea. reduced body pain but lightheaded. then, no pain, no diarrhea, but out of breath fatigue from walking to the bathroom. finally on the 20th day, I felt almost normal with an appetite.

my wife’s symptom was almost none except she lost her smell and taste. when she cooked, I had to taste it for her, and smell for bad milk and spoiled leftover food for her her. fruits tasted like water, and she couldn’t smell and taste coffee. my mom had fatigue for a few days and that was it. my dad is still recovering because we had to send him to the emergency, but for back pain, we didn’t know it was covid at the time but he later tested positive for covid. the back pain was from a mild pneumonia. they released him after 10 days of steroid, monoclonal antibody, blood plasma therapy, he is recovering at home. the covid messed up his already bad knee, so he needs physical therapy. he’s a tough old dude, trained and chewed dirt with usmc, I think he will be fine. oh, he never developed a fever.

in these 3 weeks I watched a ton of tv. funny thing about covid is it also affects emotion and mood. for example, and I'm manned-up to say this- I cried and cried watching everything related to kobe’s 1-year memorial, while my wife laughed at me. I cried watching- out of all the action movies- battleship! backdraft and star wars: rogue one were pretty bad as well. I cried seeing 45 leaving and I fucking hate 45... it was a trippy experience.

how did I get it? probably, most definitely, pretty sure was our family gathering over christmas. I probably got it first, or one of my relatives, perhaps my dad- whatever, it doesn’t matter. what does matter is we still need to wear a mask, social distancing, and stay at home as much as we can— even if you now have somewhat of an immunity.

Regent Street window cleaner

Lawton Dry Cleaners in Brattleboro, Vermont closed in 2013 when the 85-year-old owner, who started working at the shop in 1955 and bought it in 1978, decided it was time to do something else.

The graffiti on the walls and chimney in this 2022 photo have since been removed.

Around the first of every month the street cleaners come by and pick up the trash in the streets... It's a great service and it does my heart good to see my taxes at work for some good in the neighborhood... Happy Truck Thursday, Everybody !!!!!!!

CLEANER SHRIMP

- The cleaner shrimp will generally scavenge and eat parasites and dead tissue and is naturally part of the reef ecosystem. It has been observed that fish with parasites may come to "cleaning stations" in the reef. Certain species of fish and several types of cleaner shrimp may assist the fish in large numbers and even go inside the mouth (and then to the gill cavity) without being eaten.

Cleaner at work...

at the moment I am in "retraite" to work on my phd thesis: alone in a restaurant with my laptop. but when some pages are written I need to forget about all this cognitive work and go out to take some shots...

This is an old sign as can be seen from the canopy. "Cleaner" blinks properly on both sides but "Metro" does not light on either side.

My window cleaner doesn't climb up ladders, she uses a power jet on a long pole.

This made a great topper for my white feather tree. It is made from three of my pipe cleaner candy cane ornaments wired together and formed into a curvy star, with a yoyo and button covering the center.

Yes, it's that building again! It was being cleaned on one of my last visits to the city. What a scary way to earn a living! Though the Shard in London is worse as it's so tall that the builders had to be able to abseil - & they can hardly be seen from ground level.

One of the cleanest neon signs in the city.

I had to dive down 2,000 leagues under the sea to get this underwater marine shot.

As if, lol.

Built in 1953; this has been a few different businesses over the years, but my earliest memory of this was Voris Cleaners.

Voris...what a cool name

Messier 109 is a barred spiral galaxy that is home to a trillion stars. It is found in the constellation Ursa Major and is estimated to be 70 million light-years away. It is the most distant object in the Messier Catalog. It is the brightest member of the group of galaxies known as the Ursa Major Galaxy Cluster. The galaxy's central bar is clearly evident in this image. Star-forming nebulae are visible as the pinkish regions sprinkled along the spiral arms. Additionally, three satellite galaxies can be seen - UGC 6969 (upper left), UGC 6940 (center left) and UGC 6923 (lower right).

I got out today for the first time in a while. I have driven by this before and just love the signage so I went back today to take this shot.

It was a bit overcast this morning so this is a 6 shot HDR that I added some texture to.
