Okay, true: I've had bigger things on my mind over the past couple of years than emptying out my storage units. But there's no real excuse for putting the cleanout off for this long.

If I have boxes and boxes of old "MacWeek"s, it's because at some point, it was actually important to my job that I be able to re-familiarize myself with a five-year-old news item. If I've kept them long since the Web made those boxes unnecessary, it's due to the Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind paradox mounted to the turbo engine of laziness.
Nonetheless, the "Hoarders" show on A&E motivated me to prove just how Not A Hoarder I am. Oh, and yes, there's issue of spending X dollars a month to give junk a home.
A new camera lens arrived this morning, too. I've lusted after the Panasonic Lumix 20mm f1.7 Micro Four Thirds pancake lens ever since I got my Olympus PEN. The camera lacks a built-in flash, y'see. A lens that can shoot in almost any available light is uniquely handy. Plus, it's an exceptionally well-regarded piece of glass.
I unexpectedly had a very good month with my Amazon Associates links and I decided to finally pull the trigger. This would be a great day to test it out...my storage place is hardly well-lit.
Anyway. As messy as this looks, it's actually where I left the project after my previous afternoon on this project. Much of the space was taken up by empty boxes...which I had been saving in case I needed to ship some hardware back to their manufacturers. Piles of boxes were cut up and flattened; mountains of hateful, hateful styrofoam blocks had to be cut up and stuffed into feather-light trash bags.

This is one of the few 4x5 photographs that I took. Ever. Our highschool photography teacher allowed us to use his large format camera on rare occasion and I snapped this photo while on school property, probably during study hall.
This negative, and a few others, were recently found by my mother during a cleanout.
Nice to find this 'lost' negative, as Merlin passed away back in 2004.
In the cleanout at Vicki's mothers we continue to unearth some real "treasures" amongst the considerable dross. One of the former is this early version of a grass trimmer though whether it would pass today's health and safety regulations is a real moot point. Lacking any sort of safety guard and powered by an electric drill the little ripper is a ripper indeed.

Public library located in an old English stone church.
1980s film camera prints found in a bookcase cabinet cleanout. Digitally photocopied with an iPhone 6s. JPG image tweaked in Photoshop Elements with NIK Dfine, DxO ViewPoint, and Anthropics Smart Photo Editor plugins.
A look at the side of 201. A large roll-off full of assorted junk has been filled from the interior cleanout. Presumably the actual building will start to be demolished in the coming months if not weeks. Meanwhile a few of the local law enforcement aand South Metro Fire agencies have been making use of the empty building for various training drills. On the right is the lovely hunk of 1970s style concrete stairwell connecting the upper and lower parking lots.
A major apartment building project was recently announced for the northeast corner of Grand Ave and Concord Exchange. The project will include completely demolishing the 1970s era office building at 201 as well as removal of the two level surface parking lot adjacent. A new 4 story apartment building will be constructed in it's place. A second building is planned for the neighboring site however that is still in the planning and approval process.

So this is my shoe closet. I was in dire need of cleaning out the shoes I never wear anymore, since everytime I opened the doors, something would fall or was about to.
The Fluevogs get their own shelf. Almost all of them are up there, but there are some others that snuck their way in as well.
The mill drive gearing was upgrading to a cleaner method of lubrication so the gearpit had to be cleaned out; George and Paddy were the lucky ones.
Hay baler engine my dad got almost new as the guy left one of the cleanout vent things on one bank open and burned up the piston and stuck the engine. We used it for a portable welder for years. I just got it home after sitting at a friends place for the last 25 years or more. How about that OSHA approved starter motor and ring gear.
