It's insane that we don't have access to the better mileage, cleaner
cars that are available in other countries.
It's even more ridiculous that the EPA isn't pushing for cars made in
the US to demand better, cleaner technology cars.
It's good for the environment, it's good for the economy.
This is a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer
Not trying to be anything it isn’t, just a clean, well kept daily that’s been looked after properly. Practical shape, tidy lines, and the kind of car that works just as well parked up as it does getting driven every day.
The owner is Jake, a genuinely good young bloke who’s right into the car scene and the community around it. He rolled in early to the UMS car meet in Townsville in January and asked if I could document the car exactly as it sits right now, which I was more than happy to do. No hype build, no pretending, just capturing it honestly in its current form.
The light did the rest. Silver paint catching the afternoon glow, clean panels, simple details. This is what local car culture is really about.

All I need is a trip thru the local Drive Thru Car Wash to see clearly again.
This time of year we have dust storms and rain.
Not usually a lot of rain but enough to spot up the car.
So on the weekends I usually make a drive thru the local car wash.
And of course I do take Deb’s car too.

The elf-eared girl with the weird face and Aerosmith shirt is me. I'm the "baby" of the family. To my right in the picture, looking normal and not at me, are my second-oldest sister and my brother-in-law. This picture was taken a few years ago by one of my parents at Florida State University Coastal Marine Lab at Turkey Point. I've had asthma for most of my life, but more importantly, my aforemtentioned sister and brother-in-law, who will have been married 8 years this April, are expecting their first child in September. My youngest sister, who lives in Portland right now, and mom both have asthma, my oldest sister has a 14 year old son, also with a history of asthma. I come from a large family, some of whom live out in the country, where there's generally not a lot of traffic, some of whom live in or near large cities, where the cars are more abundant. I LOVE classic cars and motorcycles(I get it from my dad)---I prefer Harley's, hands down---I
love sports cars, and, being a country girl, I must confess, I also like SUVs, and I love big pick-up trucks. But, what I would love even more, is for the MACHINES I love so much not to be so harmful to the PEOPLE I love even more...as well as myself, and the rest of the world, and future generations. I would love to live on a healthier Earth.
