Clean! The shelves on the side that are hidden are "organized and I pulled 4 of my fabric bins out of the basement to put into here. My shoe rack is now in the bedroom and the clothes that were hanging here (things I made for school) are now hanging in the bedroom closet. I'd like to eventually move those two giant boxes (They are filled with empty Japanese figure boxes...) into the laundry room and switch them out with the other 6 bins of fabric.... I have too much stuff.

Before undertaking a task like completely taking apart the shutter assembly, I wanted to see if I could just clean the blades. Used Q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. Cleaned the blades, actuated the shutter, clean again. Repeated many times until I saw the shutter was becoming snappier and not sluggish as before.
After wanting to shoot a roll of Konica film for a long time, I finally got hold of a surprisingly well-preserved Konica Centuria 200.

Sometimes I'll give Shizandra's run a really good cleaning. I did that today. I used the weed-eater to trim all the grass away then mowed and raked all the grass up and put it in the compost bin at the end of the yard. The Toro lawnmower is drying in the sun. We can hook our hose up to it (lower the wheels and turn it on) and clean it with water, our big Toro does the same as well, it's a great way to clean our machinery.

Thanks to Bertha's "Clean House Friday" series, and the conversations it sparked, my house is now cleaner than ever.
Thom is much like Matt in his approach to cleaning. I have a much more *relaxed* relationship with clutter and dirt.
But, even old dogs can learn new tricks. Thom and I made ourselves a cleaning plan, based on Martha Stewart's cleaning checklists. We now have daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning lists, with all tasks assigned to one or the other of us. (We used to passive-aggressively ignore certain chores, each hoping that the other would do them!)
Once we work our way through certain one-time tasks, I think the weekly routine will take no more time than before, even though more is getting done. Now I'm more efficient, and doing things daily or weekly (dusting light fixtures, for example) means that it doesn't become a huge task later on, after neglecting for weeks.
Thom is thrilled that we finally have a less cluttered, cleaner house. Confession: I'm a happier person when I'm in a clean house, too. Who knew?
Also, this whole process has been made much easier by my wholehearted adoption of Remember the Milk as my task management system. I now have smart lists for my various cleaning tasks, and I delight in checking off what I've accomplished each week. Thanks, Erin M, for introducing me to RTM!

My favourite set of fire extinguishers outside Coles Supermarket (in the Adelaide Central Market) was augmented with a bright yellow sign, which made them even more irresistible.
