The Netherlands recently started a campaign to mobilise the public to help cleaning up large stretches of the Dutch coastline of rubbish. Numerous places were created where the public could leave the found litter to be collected by government services. This particular 'collection point' was supposed to be the 'King of Rubbish' and the public was invited to free his 'kingdom' of litter. And with a little imagination, one can indeed see something of a king in this...

Florida, USA - More backyard visitors! I've been practicing taking in-flight photos, since the eagles, herons, egrets, and the osprey are flying around over the lake a lot now. Unfortunately, the vultures are here too, I guess to clean up the dead fish left by the other birds?

Window cleaning has changed recently: no longer climbing on ladders, looking through the window and playing your ukelele, but you stand with a large pole with a brush on the other side with water coming out.
Port Soderick is a small hamlet and former day tripper resort to the south of Douglas, once famed for its pleasure grounds, leisure facilities and beach developed by the Forrester family in late Victorian times.

Port Soderick is linked to Douglas by the Isle of Man railway but prior to World War II a funicular railway connected the resort to the Marine Drive electric tramway which provided an alternative transport link to Douglas. A passenger ferry service also operated to Douglas Harbour.
With the decline of the Manx Tourist industry the resort has fallen on hard times, all except the now state owned Glen lay abandoned.
The Hotel, which, traded as the anchor until the early 2000’s, under the proprietor ship of a ‘celebrity chef’, lay abandoned until demolition in 2017.
In 2016 and the site was sold to Heritage Great Britain plc – owners of such popular attractions as Land’s End and the Snowdon Mountain Railway.
The following year, 2017 the site was sold on again to a local company Ballacrega Estates which resulted in a clean up of the site, demolition of the northern coastal walkway, the hotel and café buildings, cleaning out shingle and stones from the paddling pool and repairs to the former dance hall / amusement arcade building.

I am so pleased to show you guys this next set of images. My club decided to leave the beaches and head inland for something very associated with Barbados and Barbadian/Caribbean culture. If you know anything about Barbados, you will know that for a long time one of our biggest money earners was sugar production. Around the 1960s or so, it was steadily overtaken by the industry that occupies the top spot currently: Tourism. Whether or not that is a good thing, remains to be seen.
In any case, sugar seems to be a dying industry. In fact, this image is of Portvale Sugar Factory. Portvale is currently the last working sugar factory on the island. And even this one is not in top notch condition.
This shot didn't make it into my series submission called "Ghosts of Industries Past" which won an Honorable Mention in the Architecture: Industrial Category in the 2015 Neutral Density Awards and an Honorable Mention in the 2015 International Photographer of The Year Awards (IPOTY).
This trip to Portvale was a bit of an eye opener for me. Even though, I had visited a sugar factory before, I never realised just how much water goes into production of sugar. But then again, I suppose the same could be said for a lot of other industrial processes. Appreciate your water resources. The title is a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci and I believe that water is not only the driving force of nature but it's likely the most precious resource on this planet. Not everyone has access to clean and abundant water on this planet.

We'd never really cleaned the room, never swept, never vacuumed, until Santino and I decided to be hardcore and make the place spotless.
Actually this is what I wore on Monday, but today, I'm actually wearing a repeat outfit, so I'm showing you this today instead. Inspired by Jill Sander to try to clean up my fashion act, I've decided to go with a simple vintage (circa 1940's) tie front blouse, and a pencil skirt (by Laundry). I've mastered the ultra-high Marc Jacobs shoes... but it entails a lot of hip swayiage.

Meanwhile just outside the limits of Hothlake city, a repurposed AT-AT (now used as a pet taxi service) is getting a much needed weekly cleaning.
Keeping this mechanical marvel in top condition is no small feat, requiring the assistance of many helpers including a pair of drones, a couple of Tauntauns, and many friends. A repurposed turret installation helps to get water up to those hard to reach spots!
Emma and Andrea came along to help out after a long day of courier deliveries made with their new Land speeder. Landings are still a bit rough but she'll get the hang of it soon enough!

Not feeling photographically capable these days, even with my new camera. I've also been cleaning out the archives and will probably be posting a lot less in the upcoming months, at least until the weather breaks.
