Window cleaning has changed recently: no longer climbing on ladders, looking through the window and playing your ukelele, but you stand with a large pole with a brush on the other side with water coming out.
66065, seen at the coastal path at Fontygarry in the Vale of Glamorgan, heads east along the coastline to Barry, working the 4C46 coal empties from Aberthaw to Tower Colliery.
The "Clean it Up" sign at the footpath stile is perhaps apt as Aberthaw power station, seen to the left, is sadly scheduled for closure in 2023. Apparently, Npower is opting out of the Industrial Emissions Directive. It appears that political pressure and green legislation is impacting considerably on our energy industry - www.utilityweek.co.uk/news/rwe-npower-to-close-aberthaw-a....
Colorado Springs, CO - This is one of the latest builds of Challenger Homes, it located at their Remington Community in Wolf Ranch.
I like the clean and simple design of this kitchen. It's formal as well as casual, like a collared shirt or designer jeans. Then again who wears designer jeans anymore?

this is one of two dutch windmills in the golden gate park. this is the north one which was built in 1902. it was built to catch the strong winds from the pacific and at the time was completely surrounded by a sea of sand dunes.
the walkway to the windmill is surrounded by these beautiful flowers which i tried to capture by raking a strobe across from camera right.

Te Mania house, Conway Flat, Kaikoura, New Zealand.
Built 1937.
The Wilding family farm-house Te Mania, rural Conway Flats near the river mouth, south of Kaikoura, is a notable example of early modern New Zealand architecture. Influenced by Le Corbusier, and the Bauhaus. Architect Richard D. Harman of Christchurch. Built in 1937 of reinforced concrete in-situ. Clean lines, startling for the times, but practical and lasting; depending on advance and recess in balanced proportions. The plan was considered in advance for the time too, with spatial flow. The house has come to fit well with down-to-earth farming and became centre for its famous Angus beef stud. [300 hectare farm]. See also its likeness to other early modern examples by New Zealand architects, such as Connell's 1930 High and Over at Amersham, north of London: www.flickr.com/photos/peteshep/8177531255/in/album-721576... and John Anderson's Auckland Wharatane of 1928: www.flickr.com/photos/peteshep/7776625390/in/photolist-KV...
Architecturally, despite magazine stories, no "Deco" about it -- a misunderstanding of Modern.
It relies on its size, simple lines, frank concrete, and spatial rectilinear expression. It was softened by Virginia creeper as above; then green creeper was balanced with the Virginia.
[Conway Flat is a rural locality south of the Conway River mouth, 5+km south-east of Hundalee; Parnassus, Hurunui District.]

She came running after me, swearing, and demanding the photo be deleted. As I walked on without paying any notice, she decided she had to go back to her cash desk ….

A Bavarian soldier cleans his boots. I bought this photo in a hurry and only noticed the damage when it arrived at my home. But I still like it.

Sebastian had a LONG day... he'll be 7 on Friday.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Not initially set up for an overall shot, but the way the light fell on the bottle worked so well, it could have been.
The base is a sheet of glass which has the underside painted black to create the reflective surface.
To the rear a sheet of white card to reflect light through the body of the bottle from the sides. A small sheet of black card directly behind to form the background to the photo, which was later extended in photoshop to fill the frame.
Lighting provided by 3 x 20W CFL lamps in Pringles tube reflectors.
One sat behind and below the glass base. the other 2 to the sides and diffused by semi opaque polythene screen, partially blanked with white paper and an additional black card to the right.
The result can be seen below.
I took a stroll through one of the local antique stores. This is the biggest one in my area and has a ton of vintage stuff. I find shooting at a place like this gets the creative juices flowing..
I don't work for the antique store, they just gave me permission to come in and shoot. You can find out more about the store @ www.agouraantiquemart.com
