Buildings of the business district "Red Hills". The construction took more than ten years; as a result, a business center, concert halls, a five-star hotel appeared here.

Moscow International House of Music (building on the right) is a modern center for the performing arts, which has no analogues in Russia. This is an independent production association that organizes performances by Russian and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, instrumental soloists, opera and ballet artists, theater, jazz, pop and folk groups.

The dome of the House of Music is crowned with an emblem in the form of a treble clef-vane 9.5 meters high; by Zurab Tsereteli. The most complicated roller mechanism allows such a heavy construction to rotate according to the principle of a weather vane. The composition is made of stainless steel; its center - key and leaves - covered with gold leaf.; V trekh zalakh kompleksa – Svetlanovskom; Kamernom i Teatral'nom – provodyatsya kontserty i spektakli; krupnyye mezhdunarodnyye forumy i tvorcheskiye vechera; prezentatsii i prazdnichnyye shou; konferentsii i korporativnyye vstrechi.; Svetlanovskiy zal (rasschitan na 1699 mest) — bol'shoy filarmonicheskiy organnyy zal MMDM; nazvannyy v chest' vydayushchegosya russkogo dirizhera Yevgeniya Svetlanova. On prednaznachen dlya provedeniya kontsertov klassicheskoy i populyarnoy muzyki; a takzhe krupnykh festivaley i konkursov. Zal oblitsovan sibirskoy listvennitsey; schitayushcheysya luchshim v mire «akusticheskim» derevom; Развернуть; 574/5000; In the three halls of the complex - Svetlanovsky; Chamber and Theater - concerts and performances; major international forums and creative evenings; presentations and holiday shows; conferences and corporate meetings are held.; Svetlanov Hall (designed for 1699 seats) is a large philharmonic organ hall of the MMMD; named after the outstanding Russian conductor Evgeny Svetlanov. It is intended for concerts of classical and popular music; as well as major festivals and competitions. The hall is lined with Siberian larch; considered the best “acoustic” tree in the world.

From the left hand side to the back then front right, these are the Thai classical instruments these children use:

Saw Sam Sai (Three Stringed fiddle) ( ซอสามสาย ) – it is a traditional bowed string instrument made from a special type of coconut covered on one end with animal skin. Musician playing Saw Sam Sai’ mostly sits at the front row of the ensemble.

Thai Ramwong Drum ( รำวง )– It is super heavty solid carved shell with beautiful wood grain and nice lacquer finish. It is easily tunable without tools by adjusting the ropes.

Ching ( ฉิ่ง ) and Chap ( ฉาบ ) – this is the tupe of metal percussion looks like mini cymbals made of an alloy. Ching comes in pair of bowl shape cymbals. Chap is more flat and thinner.

Ja Khe ( จะเข้ ) – is made of wood in a stylised alligator shape with three strings laying along the instruments. Two strings are made of silk yarn or nylon and the other strings is made of brass, It has raised frets made of bamboo, which are affixed to the fretboard. The body is made of soft wood trees such as jackfruit.

Traditional music can help people understand a country better. It represents the history, traditions and thoughts of a community you are in.

As for yourself, of course, either you are playing or learning to play any instruments can be seen as very therapeutic. It can raise your mood and make you calm or relaxed.

Have a wonderful day ahead!

The Litchfield Public Library is situated in the center of Library Park in the heart of downtown Litchfield. The block on which the library sits forms the center of the downtown square.

The Classical Revival-style library was designed by Bloomington architect Paul Moratz and was constructed in 1904-05 at a cost of just under $16,000. Funds in the amount of $15,000 were obtained from the Andrew Carnegie Library Trust. In return, the City of Litchfield promised to maintain a free public library at the cost of not less than one-thousand dollars a year. Litchfield's contribution exceeded this amount.

Known as the "Patron Saint" of libraries, Andrew Carnegie spent the first 66 years of his life building a great fortune and the last 18 years giving it away. Between 1886 and 1919 his library benefactions world-wide surpassed $56M dollars. The Litchfield Public Library is just one of 105 Carnegie grants in various amounts made to Illinois communities between 1900-1916.

A new, larger Litchfield Public Library building opened in 2017. The building shown in this photo is now owned by the City of Litchfield where it is open to the public and home to the Litchfield Tourism Office.

Litchfield, a city in Montgomery County, is located in South Central Illinois and is part of the Metro East of St. Louis. Forty-six miles to the north of Litchfield is the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield. Two separate alignments of historic U.S. Route 66 (1930-1940 and 1940-1977), aka the Mother Road, run through the city. Litchfield had a population of 6,605 at the 2020 Census.

The Litchfield Carnegie Public Library was listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1999.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a Corinthan capital - though I found it in Alicante, Spain.

I wasn't happy with my previous website and kept looking for a new theme for quite some time. Now, the new version is up and running - hope you enjoy it!

Magnificent Monday to you.

Classically trained in 'Classical Guitar' I haven't played for a few years, but, I did the other day for the first time in a long time, It was lovely to sit and run through some music. Sadly there's never enough time to do everything... so, after playing I used the last of the Summer Sun to bring you this image, have a fabulous Friday to some amazing, talented and wonderful Flickr Friends ~ Debbie :)

The Long Corridor is a covered walkway in the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. The total length of the Long Corridor is 728 metres and it is decorated with more than 14,000 paintings, especially on the ceiling and its beams, which divide it into 273 sections. Along the corridor there are four octagonal pavilions. Each of these pavilions symbolises the four climatic seasons of the year. The more than 14,000 paintings have a wide variety of subjects: historical figures, famous buildings, landscapes, flowers, birds, fish, insects... Of particular importance are those depicting folk and traditional tales, fables and episodes from classical Chinese literature. As a part of the Summer Palace, the Long Corridor was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December, 1998.

There is no doubt that the Long Corridor is a beautiful place during the day. But it is at night, with the arrival of darkness and the lighting of the chinese lanterns, that it reaches its true splendour, creating a special atmosphere and transforming into a long, luminous and sinuous thread in the midst of the darkness. It is at night when it becomes a magical place, where stories, tales, fables, imagination... come to life and arise. Dreams and tales, in the middle of the night and darkness.

Tranquiliza tu mente. Descansa tus ojos y duerme bien.

Goodnight.

Classical architecture survived better when actually made of whole stone, not steel and concrete. Hilgard Hall, 1917, on the UC Berkeley campus.

Tofino, British Columbia, Canada

The Fitzwilliam Museum on Trumpington Street, Cambridge, opened its doors to the public in 1848. The architecture of this building itself is a kind of appropriation of Greek and Roman antiquity - almost as if the British Empire was its legitimate successor civilisation. The museum is holding collections of exquisite quality, and the exhibits from Ancient Greece and Cyprus, Rome and Egypt are indeed superb. I must admit that classical antiquity, in the midst of which Christianity originated, is still the yardstick against which I measure our own attempts at being civilised. Fuji X-E2.
