Watercolor - Day 2 Masking Fluid

Supplies used:

Winsor & Newton Colourless Art Masking Fluid

Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean Distress inks – Ranger

“Thinking of you” – Hero Arts Rubber Stamps

Flower rubber stamp – Just for Fun Rubber Stamps

Strathmore Watercolor paper (cold press 140 lb.)

Onyx Black Versafine inkpad

Using the Onyx Black Versafine ink, I stamped the flower onto the watercolor paper. After letting it dry, I applied the masking fluid with a paintbrush over the entire flower.

Since I don’t have any watercolors, I made them by smooching the 4 Distress Ink pads onto a different section of my non-stick craft sheet and then spraying each color with water. The masking fluid had pretty much dried by the time I finished making up the watercolors, so I applied the colors starting with Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive, Peacock Feathers, and finally Chipped Sapphire. (This color combination is my new favorite.) After letting the watercolors dry a little bit, I wiped any wetness off of the masking fluid and then rubbed the masking fluid off. It came off really easily. Just be sure your fingers are clean when rubbing or you may leave smudges on the white areas.

Took some great classes and learned soooooo much!

I took the fabric dye class by Stacy Mitchell 2 years ago and have used the fabric to make my purse labels. I just love her! She is a local artist with international connections. Her annual open house is April 18th. I plan to be there!!

Took some excellent knitting classes. Learned a bunch... good since I really know VERY little. I did the smallest knitting with beads and may make a beaded bracelet instead of the little purse that was the project. Helen, our instructor, has been knitting since she was a small girl.

The hand beading class was amazing... learned so much. I knew nothing before the class and know enough to start experimenting. June Colburn was an inspirational teacher.

Loved the felted bowl and the crochet flowers class instructors. Very helpful! They made the concepts easy to grasp. Both were from a local yarn shop..."The Whole Nine Yarns". Lovely yarns in their booth.... drool!

Something quite different... took a locker hook clutch class. Fascinating textures created with yarns and fabric strips. I now see a way to use my remnants in a beautiful creative way!!!

Textiles! Fibers! FUN!!! =)
