A class 120 hybrid dmu is approaching Water Orton with the 07.33 Lincoln to Birmingham New Street service. The wind-less day had a post-snow mist and Hams Hall power station is only seen as a delicate outline against the grey sky.
Both the power station and the DMU are now long gone.

On 13 April 1998, 150142 stops at Manchester Piccadilly on the 1026 Blackpool North- Buxton. I rather liked this particular GMPTE livery and still miss it a bit.

Transport for Wales CAF Class 197 (197111) recently introduced on their network, taken at Liverpool Lime Street awaiting departure for Chester.
A rear three quarter view of freshly out shopped 91127. Looking so good, a modern take on the original “Executive” livery the Class wore when first introduced way back in 1989.
In the twilight of their career I was fortunate to get a pair of Gloucester Carriage & Wagon Company built two-car Class 100 diesel multiple units sit at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 12 August 1983.
We were fortunate to ride down from Llaundudno on these. One of the sets was formed of 50356/56111 which I had seen sandwiched between a pair of Class 101 sets on North Wales Coast services a few days earlier.
The bloke down the pub says some continued in use until 1988 - was this in passenger or departmental service?
The original class 40 names plates were removed then some of their allocated depots decided to reinstate their original names by painting them on the loco side's. The nameplate outline plus the 7No fixings can be seen where the original name were positioned, in this example ''Aquitania''

Witton station is functional, perhaps that is the strength of the place. The station served two important functions it was the station for Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa FC, millions of supporters have set foot on these platforms. The other use was for workers, when Britain made goods the Aston/Witton area was packed with factories during wartime Kynoch were at full stretch making ammunition. Today most of the factories have long gone leaving residual industry like car scrap yards.
A Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon class 100 rasps away towards Birmingham New Street, probably from Walsall.

I catalogued this as a "class 302 coach on display". Was it a refurbished coach being shown to the BR Board (the HQ was nearby)? Seems it was, see below. The number doesn't make much sense! March 1980.

Class 74 electro-diesel locomotive No. 74003 eases onto 4TC unit No. 412 at Romsey. This was one of the scheduled stops on the "Class 74 Farewell" railtour, which ran from Waterloo and visited Southampton, Lymington and Bournemouth, among other places, on Saturday 3rd December 1977. Until I checked the entry for this event on the excellent Six Bells Junction web site, I had absolutely no recollection that 74003 experienced difficulties with her diesel engine at Romsey, causing the railtour to be delayed for about an hour. I'm not sure whether the view above was before or after the engine incident. For some other superb shots of this special train, see 54A South Dock's photostream:
Class 119 L579 made up of 51065,59424 & 51103 Draws into Tonbridge with the 10:51 from Reigate, 18th April 1990 (Tonbridge Album Scan 9).
I normally steer clear of purchasing prints, however I came across a whole album of original Tonbridge shots. I collect old Tonbridge Slides / Negs so thought these were to good to let go, some very nice shots in there too. I will upload them all as and when I have time to scan them, probably around 50 in total. Unfortunately I can only assume the original negatives have since long been destroyed...
I hope they are of interest...

I have started to collect a number of original slides (with copyright) 'most' of which probably haven’t been seen before. Some come with image information and some don't. Please feel free to leave a comment if you know locations, dates, numbers etc, it would be much appreciated. I have uploaded these at a low resolution, please don't copy / download without my prior permission.
I only collect slides on the understanding that the full copyright transfers over to me. If you believe there to be a copyright issue please drop me an email.

An unidentified Class 40 heads a northbound freight, probably rock salt in antiquated wagons, passing Waitby.
Information received suggests that the loco is 40 025 formerly named "Lusitania" and the train may be 6S52 Winsford - Mossend/Inverness with rock salt for the coming winter.
