"Currantly" it's a very "Sticky" situation!

I'm not one for gossip . . . despise it, in fact.

But sometimes a fact is a fact . . .

and the FACT

that 2-1/2 weeks ago we returned from another amazing week in Maine,

has us chuckling about the most recent scandal!

(sorry . . . you must google "Scandal, Kennybunkport, Maine" for the deTAILS) . . .

When we were in Portland, Maine in May, a man mysteriously fell to his death off a pier.

Yesterday there was an earthquake in Portland.

Goodness, is there something in that broom I've been flying lately?

Actually, it's probably in the WILD *BOO*Berry Syrup!

β€œThrough practice you'll learn to identify the wrong 'un which should be heaved back over his syrup.

You'll be singing happy little songs about the whereabouts of his missus in no time.”

One of most favorite things to do when I visit "the city" is go stop by my favorite spot for bowl of clam chowder. Boudin at Fisherman's Wharf. home of the famous β€œSan Francisco sourdough French bread" has the best clam chowder.

Filet mignon and shrimp on a skewer.

**The meat wasn't tender enough considering that it was supposed to be a filet mignon and in general, I should have just ordered a big bowl of New England clam chowder and I would have been much happier!

the key to any good chowder, including clam chowder is adding just the right amount of salt pork that's browned in a frying pan. as the name implies, salt pork is a piece of flesh from a pig's belly that's cured in salt. yum!

way back in the day, curing meats in salt was the only way to keep them from rotting while out to sea on a long fishing expedition, so it's not surprising that traditional chowders still require the ingredient, much to the dismay of vegetarians.

I have selected interesting, old 19th and early 20th century graphic images for digital restoration and editing. The images were then adjusted and brightened to make the images suitable for display and other purposes. The resulting image brings out many details. Β© 2017 for restored reproduction.

Clam chowder in sourdough bread bowl, Boudin's Bakery, Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, CA. Oh, I envy you who live in San Fran.

A view of downtown San Francisco from the Bay.

We had a truly wonderful dinner there. The fish were fresh off the fishing boats and the chef grew his own vegetables at a farm. With ingredients this fresh you just need to let the natural taste shine.
