An unexpected play date recently when we met up with a neighbour, his dog, Dakota and their mutual toy helicopter..
While Dakota does the über athlete chopper-chasing, Miss W hangs with neighbour to observe proceedings, and Pips rounds up anything that moves…after all she's a sheepdog …
I sat on the grass, twisting one way or another, trying to 'capture' some fast moving shots.
Extremely fast, I have to say and the utmost random, quick-change directions - some happy chaos on speed..
Anyway, some turned out, others didn't - I put the favourites together and had another go at a video.
It didn't play properly at first, but give it a couple of chances, it came good on mine.
So view it large and turn up the sound !!
Just for fun - Enjoy x

This was a super quick design, so it's not the best. I used Malydilnar's rocket pod design, so credit for that goes to him. This whole build so pretty much rushed, I finished it in a little over 45 minuets. The shaping is kinda blocky , I know. Thanks for looking! That's about it.
this guy took a standard raleigh chopper and lengthened the rear seat stays and the forks so he could put the back wheel from a raleigh tomahawk in place of the front and then placed a wheel from a raleigh grifter (i think) into the rear. he also extended the handlebars and you can't see a weld join on the bike anywhere. it was great, and he was a really nice guy.
Last year we treated ourselves to a "heli hike". We flew into the middle of the Kaweka and walked back to the hanger at Poronui over the following 6 days.
It took around 15 minutes to cover what would take a determined tramper 2-3 days to walk. Its always a thrill to travel by chopper.

Not a great day out for Locomotive Services Limited's Standard Class 7 70000 "Britannia" after it failed at Carlisle and had to be taken off the return leg of Saphos Trains' "The Fellsman". Reportedly suffering an overheated big end bearing, the Brit required a tow back to base.
LSL's Class 20, 20107 (D8107) on standby / Thunderbird duties at Appleby for the Staycation Express was therefore despatched as 0Z20 to Carlisle.
It then hauled the stricken steamer on a late path (also 0Z20) back to Crewe DMD at a max speed of 50 mph due to Britannia's predicament.
Fortunately the move made better progress than the path suggested and the unusual combination passed through Hartford 138 Early - 10 minutes before the station lights went out.
Class 20's nos 20013 & 20170 await departure from Sheffield on 17th June 1978 with the DAA/DEG 'The Chopper Railtour'. The pair had replaced nos. 20006 & 20030 at Toton and continued to Worcester via Derby, Walsall and Kidderminster.
Thanks to Six Bells Junction for additional information.
C10 and C6 are seen exiting the western portal at Circular Quay heading to Revesby via the Airport on Run 25-K.
I studied this thing for a while and couldn't see any reason why it wouldn't have been rideable back in the day.
Not that I'd have wanted to.
Seen at Techatticup, a former gold mine now a kind of outdoor museum.
