“LAS CRUCES, N. MEX.
TEST AT THE ARMY ORDNANCE’S WHITE SANDS PROVING GROUND
Technicians prepare the Hermes Rocket for launching.”
An exceedingly rare photograph of a Hermes rocket/missile, especially of launch preparation.
Apparently, this is the first (of seven) of the ‘A3A’ version of the Hermes missile/rocket. Unfortunately, the launch was a failure, with a turbo-pump failure 23 seconds after launch.

A lovely example of a Chevrolet Advance Design pickup. This 52' 3100 was seen at the Stonham Barns Hot Rod Car Show. This is 3 exposures with -1+ stops bracketing, then Photomatix for HDR and tonemapping, and finally Photoshop for the finishing touches!

The Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck is one of the most successful and popular trucks ever made. Continuing the tradition of the ‘Advanced Design Era’ started in 1948, the Chevy Truck added many refinements like seating for three persons, improved windshields and better engine performance. The vehicle also was made higher and wider. It was a pleasure spotting this perfectly working specimen in San Bruno neighborhood.
This yellow Chevrolet 3100 van, advertising The Fireplace Center & Patio Shop, was parked next to the Carling Avenue entrance of the Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre in the Lincoln Heights neighbourhood in western Ottawa.
I photographed this van on the same Saturday in June that I photographed the Ferraris in motion during the 2009 Ferrari Festival. I was actually on my way to the Lincoln-Fields Wal-Mart to drop off for developing the five rolls of colour film that I had shot of the Ferraris, and seeing this late 1940's American classic was a nice little bonus touch.
