I found this underground in Chengdu near the south railway station and it seems to be a popular spot for influencers to have their picture taken. As so often in life the question arises: But why?

The 'Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding' is worth a visit. Pandas are amazing animals, but also slow and sheepish. Some 100 are kept in the zoo of which I counted 25.
Several cubs were born in June and July. Visitors could see two pink babies in incubators and several older cubs in kindergarten.
Less than 2000 wild giant pandas are still living in the mountains.
Parts of Central Chengdu have relatively new freeways that have been built under the wide boulevards of the central city.
Chengdu, one of China's fastest-growing cities, has experienced rapid urbanisation driven by its strategic location and booming tech industry. This growth has led to significant infrastructure expansion, including a modern road system that integrates expressways, ring roads, and smart traffic management systems to manage increasing traffic demands. The city has also focused on sustainable development, with green corridors and public transportation improvements like an extensive metro system to reduce congestion.
The JianJiao-5 (JJ-5) developed by Chengdu Aircraft Factory is the two-seat fighter-trainer variant of the Shenyang J-5A (MiG-17 Fresco) subsonic jet fighter. First flying in 1966, the aircraft is still operated by the People's Liberation Army Air Force, People's Republic of China (PLAAF) flight schools for basic jet pilot training.
This aircraft is painted in the colors of the Russian "Red Falcons" demo team.
Bian Lian performer at a Chengdu theatre. Bian Lian is "face changing", and the masks are layered and changing quickly without the viewer noticing. Very popular and very fun.
