A redux of my "Chess Pieces" photo. This time I had much greater control of the light and other conditions.
We found this beautiful chess game on our holidays in Greece / Rhodes.
Saw it in a store that sold hundreds of different types of chess games. This one here was the largest: The plate is of marble and the chessmen all are of massive bronze...
The owner of the shop saw that we fell in love with it, but... we said: it's just too heavy to carry home... and left the shop.
(above all: this should have cost nearly 400 DM at that time...!)
The very next day, we decided to go back to that shop and buy... for this game was just too beautiful...
Entering the shop the owner recognized us at once - and hurried to offer us a price reduction (...for the weight of it - he KNEW he'd never sell it - except to some stupid tourists who didn't mind carrying those 'tons' of weight...)
Finally we got it all - for 180 DM!
The only thing that affected our pleasure was.... the poor arms of Antoine - growing longer and longer whilst carrying our purchase to the airport... :-))
One of the funniest chess games I've ever seen... ;-)

Eines der witzigsten Schachspiele, die ich je gesehen habe... ;-)
