Rubber rabbitbrush is one of the last actively flowering species in the sage steppe at Seedskadee NWR. As a result, a large number of pollinators can be found on this species in late September and early October. Here, the common checkerd skipper was nectaring on it. I believe this one is a male, with blue hairs basally. It is the most widespread and common skipper, found from high to low elevations, and often using disturbed habitats, before heading south.

Tune-up this morning had my CRX running good. Took her down HWY 1 for the first time. Juan brought his CRX too and went for an evening cruise along the coast.

Today didn't go at all as planned. The plan was to get up early, do the usual checklist for autox (tire pressure, gas, fluids etc) then take my car for a car wash since she hasn't been washed all year, then go to the autox and have tons of fun testing the new setup. Nope. Right out the gate, the battery was dead. Went into swapping the battery from the CRX to find out the posts on that are setup differently. Fail. Luckily, Juan came by and we were able to give the battery enough juice to drive to the autox. Barely made registration.

Once there, the car didn't want to start again so I missed staging and therefore, couldn't run. Found out I also have a bad ground. Got the battery charged up and the ground cleaned. Tomorrow I'll see how it acts and see if maybe the ground cable itself is the issue. On the way home, stopped at the spot where I shot Burkey's Si and got some pics of mine. She'll be back!

Have a nice day!

During a day of botanizing the day before yesterday, 30 June 2015, at the property belonging to Judy Osborne - James River, N. of Sundre - I happened to notice this small Red-blue Checkerd Beetle standing on a Yarrow flower.

Just three of us went with Judy to visit her cabin (or, as she describes it, her "shack") and the surrounding forest and river. What a beautiful property she has - 100 acres of forest, meadow, and river valley - and we so appreciate her having us there to record the plants, insects, birds, etc. that we could find. I've never seen so many beautiful wild Roses! She also has a Great Gray Owl, but there was no sign of it when we were there.

We are always happy to visit someone's land and compile a very detailed list of our findings for them. It's always a win/win situation - we enjoy what we are doing and love to explore a new location, and the owner ends up with a record of what was found on their property. Judy very generously provided a delicious lunch for us, too, which we ate out on the deck, surrounded by busy little Pine Siskins visiting her bird feeder. Thanks so much for this absolute treat, Judy, and for driving the three of us out there from our meeting place in the city.

We were so lucky with the weather, enjoying a day of sunshine. How things changed when we got back to Calgary. Our meeting place was near Chinook Mall and to drive home, I had to drive through flash flooding!! I don't remember ever having to drive through water like that! What a storm this part of the city must have had! The Internet was down last night, too.

A checkered skipper basking in the garden

white pencil,felt pens.fine black pen.

This was taken without any much of make-up like how real models in magazines do.

But with just a little talc powder, a simple blush-on, and a bit of a simple lipstick for young teens. But still she look amazingly pretty to me. This is how I define beauty.. just being simple and innocent.

I walked in to check on her and she was sleeping in this lovely checkerd & polka-dot sandwich that I couldn't resist capturing it - She's my little Dreamer

The walls are painted Deep Mango from Eddie Bauer at Lowes (painted over 4 years ago ) So I had to find something that would go well with such a Bright color - this bedset seems to work for now - hoping to find something better later

The wall is really bright right behind her because her Night light was on - I probably should have turned it off but I kinda liked the glow from it - What do you think ?

"Me balls are in here somewhere" says the Golfer.

I've always wanted to drive a Golf buggy, but I'm not that interested in playing Golf. Maybe when I'm older and I've bought natty checkerd shorts and top that complies with the dress code...

this snake was found near my coll.i kept him with me for around two weeks in tat he ate one frog n one checkerd keelback

Something a little different from me this time ... me! I was running through ideas in what I could do for todays photo and for some god awful reason I decided to take a photo of myself, I don't know what possessed that thought because I usually never get in front of the camera.

Be honest and please tell me what you think (of the photo, not me). I know the focus is a bit off, one of the downfalls of self-portraits.
