A home energy checkup is a great way to save money on energy costs while improving the comfort and efficiency of your home. This simple action can help you reduce your energy usage and recommend home improvements and routines that can enhance your home and put money in your pocket.
In this photo set, Peter Waring from Healthier Dwelling did a full home energy assessment, checking our house for leaks. It appears we have a lot leaks, which will require us to seal our home, to reduce our overall energy consumption and carbon emissions. Stay tuned for more developments on this front.
This is just one of the climate actions we are taking this year, to make a green change in our lives: switching to 100% renewable electricity, getting an electric vehicle, biking more often, canceling long flights, converting gas appliances to electric and eating a plant-rich diet.
In just six months, we have reduced our carbon footprint by half, and we hope to reach zero emissions by the end of next year. This is just one of the ways we are trying to help solve the climate crisis. Besides taking action in our own lives, I have also started Green Change, our new climate action network in Marin, to help others go green with us.

A couple months ago they started to run this up to Trenton once a week for check-ups. It is under the clinic direction of an APN, we thought that was a Nurse Practitioner, and maybe she is but she has the letters, APN for “Advanced Practice Nurse”. We had to look up what an APN was. We noticed the big dish on the top, I thought it was to connect with the computer back in KC, in a way it is, just not like I thought. The gal that is there is an RN, I think, and she does the “hands on “ work and the APN is back in KC looking on by a big screen TV monitor. It is weird to say the least. She even listens to my heart and lungs as the RN places the listening thing around on different places. It’s in real time and we can talk back and forth. I don’t take any of their drugs or shots but it’s just to stay in the system, in case my little truck gets feisty and runs me over again.

Well, two days ago, we took our 2005 Acura TSX Sedan in for the slightly overdue 60,000 mile checkup, and, the loaner car that the dealer gave us while ours was in the shop was this beautiful 2010 Acura TSX Sedan. It is definitely a step above our previous generation TSX, as, the front seats are a lot more comfortable, it is somewhat quieter, and handles even more precisely than ours, which says a lot, because ours is already quite comfortable, rather quiet, and very sporty to drive to begin with. It had only 5,680 miles on it when we started using it, and, it had 5,712 miles on it at the time of this photo, which is right before we took it back to the dealer. It has a 5-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Photo taken two days ago, on April 8, 2011.
Taken after I got my eyes dilated. That was a blast! Bright side; my eye doctor was very enthusiastic and sweet about letting me shoot the equipment — "if you can actually see anything," as he put it.

The need for routine checkups every month depends on several factors, including an individual's age, medical history, and current health status. In general, most people do not need to go for routine checkups every month.
For young and healthy individuals with no chronic medical conditions, routine checkups may only be necessary once a year or every few years. During these checkups, the healthcare provider can assess the individual's overall health, perform necessary tests or screenings, and discuss any concerns or questions the individual may have.
However, for individuals with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure, routine checkups may be necessary more frequently, such as every few months or every few weeks, to monitor their condition and adjust their treatment plan as needed.
Additionally, individuals who are pregnant or have a weakened immune system may also require more frequent checkups to ensure the health of themselves and their baby or to monitor any potential complications.
It's important to note that regular checkups are not only important for identifying and treating health issues but also for preventing them. Healthcare providers can provide guidance on healthy lifestyle habits, such as diet and exercise, and help identify potential risk factors for certain diseases or conditions.
In summary, the frequency of routine checkups depends on an individual's age, medical history, and current health status. It's essential to discuss with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate schedule for your checkups.
