While in Chennai I decided to get a general checkup by the dentist, apparently this dentist is very highly recommended as one of the best Asia has to offer, within a minute of looking at my teeth she noticed a problem that the X-Rays later confirmed.

She explained that I have a narrow jaw, which as she put it, is very good looking but not very accommodating for all my teeth, Because of this my wisdom teeth are clearly coming in at a very bad angle and had to be removed,

The only option for removal was surgery under general anesthesia. Well all 4 wisdom teeth are now out; the surgery was two and a half hours.

Don't think the doc put into perspective how much pain I would be in after the surgery and how swollen my face would get.

It’s a slight setback to the plans but it was best to take care of this issue before it became a bigger more painful problem.

Visitin the doctor for checkup (:

Tis that time of year when many folks in Japan take their annual health checkup. As with previous years, I took along the camera to document everything.

Later on in the day, I was to have my blood sample taken - the result was that I have an abnormal amount of white blood cells - me better go back to the hospital to follow up.

Wasn't fond of needles for a while (not that I'm fond of them now) as when I was back in the UK, the nurse who was trying to take a blood sample kept missing the vein and I ended up with 5 extra holes in my arm! I got nervous and passed out ^^;

Evan had his 18-month checkup last Wednesday morning. It was mostly not too traumatic. He started crying when we went into the room with the scale, but he calmed down a little when the nurse gave him some stickers. He also cried briefly when the doctor tried to take the cover for the otoscope so she could look at his ears. (She ended up getting out another one instead.) Other than that, he was nervous but fine. He even got a souvenir tongue depressor, which he called a "knife."
