Sneak Peek Behind-The-Scenes Can Be Seen HERE
As the rook and knight close in, the king understands what happens when the game is over...
This shot was lit only by a tea light. With the camera on a tripod and the shutter set to a full 8 seconds, the shot captures the soft glow of the candle.
This is my second attempt at creating a dramatic photo using chess pieces. The first shot was decent from a technical standpoint but it lacked tension and foreshadowing. This photo illustrates those concepts much more effectively.

You're backed in a corner with nowhere else to hide. I've caught you in all of your deceit and lies. Never give up? Very noble, but it's too late because it's over.
Keep Updated!
I challenged myself to a duel of chess, I was both the winner and the defeated. It all comes down to your point of view and depth of field. The fall of the king brought on the shadow of night, and the end of the shoot.

A ~6x8 inch Kallitype on Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag. Toned in gold. Originally a digital capture from 2010. Hand-turned cocobolo chess pieces lined up on a desk.
This photo already exists in my photostream, but I liked the Kallitype enough that I wanted that version here too.

“He looked so much like me, I could tell that he saw it, too, we shared the smile of recognizing ourselves in each other, how many imposters do I have? DO we all make the same mistakes, or has one of us gotten it right, or even just a bit less wrong, am I the imposter?”
