chapati making mashine in Golden Temple (all people who come to Golden Temple can eat for free, so there is the biggest kitchen I've ever seen)
Chapatis are a wonderful piece of food found here in Kenya. In Mathare you can get a warm, fresh chapati any time you want one for the wonderful price of ten shillings (about 12 cents). Because they are so delicious, and so cheap, Ryan and I have been buying the business office chapatis in the morning to take with tea.
Samuel, one of my Kenyan co-workers, has gotten quite used to this tradition, and reminds us when we take too long in going on a chapati run. This morning he came up and sat beside me as I was working on a computer, got real close, put his arm around me and said, “Eric, how can you work without the proper resources?” I looked at him a bit confused. And then understanding dawned suddenly.
“Samuel, do you need a chapati?” I asked. He smiled, nodded, and grabbed me to go on a chapati run.
