The photographs in my set, "Weed Flower Micros," may appear to be close-ups of regular-sized flowers – they are not!

These are micro (macro) photos of tiny little flowers which bloom on ordinary weeds found in my lawn.

How tiny? The largest weed flower in the set is only, when measured across its widest part from petal tip to petal tip, 3/4" in diameter (19mm)!

Some of these miniscule flowers are so small that the entire blossom you are looking at is 1/4" in diameter (6mm)…or smaller! Again, that’s measuring from petal tip to petal tip across the widest part of the bloom!

The smallest part of a weed flower that I have managed to successfully shoot and achieve good detail in is a photo I made of a bud that measured LESS than 1/32" in diameter (0.7mm) across its widest part!

For size references I have included a photo of certain flowers and buds next to the head of an ordinary paper match, which dwarfs the blooms and buds.

It’s delightful to discover the beauty, complexity, and variety in something so small that it’s easily ignored, taken for granted, dismissed as a pest, or just downright difficult to see with the naked eye.

And it’s an even greater delight to realize that this incredible beauty has been growing wild in my lawn, year after year, right under my un-seeing eyes as I’ve repeatedly mown them down with my lawn mower, never realizing the unseen beauty that I was trampling under my feet.

I hope you enjoy viewing these as much as I do. I have a lot of fun making them for us to look at!

- I noticed the below linked three news clips in the Finnish news stream yesterday:

1) The Minister of Finance says that no-one knows of the challenges waiting for us when tomorrow comes

2) "Managers should overpower the nerds."

3) The Minister of Finance says other countries must accept what Finland demands...

No-one knows the next solutions - and still we think they can be found through dismissing other professions, our co-working partners, neighbors... - Unlearning the way we currently dream indeed would be worth a collaborative, connective try.

Carbon must take a dive

As sea levels rise, ten humanitarian and environmental groups in Western

Australia combined forces this past weekend and called on the Australian

Government to take the plunge and go below 350.

Launching the 10-10-10 global week of action on climate change, more

than 7300 other events are underway in 188 countries during this week in

the largest ever global demonstration on climate change.

To draw attention to this global movement, Oxfam Australia and World

Vision, came together with WWF-Australia, Tear, The Oaktree Foundation,

The One World Centre, The Conservation Council, Save Our Marine Life,

Environment House and the Anti-Nuclear Association of WA.

The 5 humanitarian and 5 environmental agencies dived with signs bearing

the numbers 3, 5 and 0 which combine to make up the number 350, the

maximum level of atmospheric carbon in parts per million (ppm) that

scientists say is the upper limit to ensure climate safety. The current

global level is 390ppm and rising, and carbon levels must take a dive to

stop the catastrophic effects of climate change.

Droughts, floods and storms are causing havoc with people's ability to

grow food which is seeing lives and livelihoods being destroyed in poor

countries. These countries have not caused the problem and do not have

the financial resources to adapt are suffering most.

It is crucial that rich countries help by reducing their emissions to

bring atmospheric carbon levels below 350ppm, as well as supporting

projects to help communities adapt to the devastating impacts of climate

change.

We know that runaway climate change will imperil coral reefs and

forests, and habitats across the planet, accelerating extinctions. For

the sake of people and nature, we need national and international

action, including a price on carbon.

To find a 10/10/10 event near you, visit www.350.org.

Wall-e and I have been noticing the start of the changing of leaves... there's still a lot of green, but that will quickly change.

This is Wall-e's first Autumn, and he's quite quizzical about it.

Hi guys,

It has been what? 2 years since my last upload...

A lot has changed in these years - my main focus has been in front of the camera as a fashion content creator, until a week ago.

After many many years shooting with my Canon 1000D, I decided it was time for a change and so it happened; I treated myself on a Canon 6D Mark l. Later that week I decided to go for the lens I have always wanted: EF 24-70 f2.8 ll UMS.

Took it for a try this weekend in the gorgeous tulip fields. Back on my knees and being out there made me realise how much I have missed it.

Hopefully more uploads soon!

Have a great evening!

Season is changing and it's getting new color and new life. This is very delighting to see the change of this color.

I like the statement The change we need and the same way I do like We can't change the world unless we change ourselves!

With many thanks to staff of 238 Sqn, I was allowed to photograph the Jaguar aircraft and the associated ground equipment at will, predominantly to provide the detail for a forthcoming 1/48 scale 54 Sqn Jaguar that is being made for me, the first aircraft that I worked on at RAF Coltishall after completing my tech training back in the early 80’s.
