I know summer is long gone but its just begun to really feel that way. The wind is cold, first frost approaches, my morning glory vines have died out including my other potted wildflower garden. This weekend i took down the wasted vines, flowers...consolidated the left of soil and stacked empty pots. My patio is now bare save for my basil, chamomile and chile plants which i will be bringing inside very soon in hopes of keeping them alive for winter. while i am sad to watch the "abundance" of summer come to a close i am elated at the changes in the air, the glow of fall in the trees...the inevitable "rest" of winter.

....but its photos like this, taken in summer's hight that will help get through the coming months of getting up in the dark chill( but i really do love winter!!)...and spring is such a miracle- to watch the green roll back in with such force! i cant wait to have my morning glory vines growing and flowering again. this time i will start the seeds indoors as soon as spring hits. should be good.

At Latchford sidings, a member of the train crew walks alongside to the front end of the coaches as the second locomotive, 60054, is attached at to the helm at the opposite end of the train

I walked by this door, on my way to Soho Art parade, it was cool so I took it's picture. On the way back, (3 hours later) I walked bye and the google eyes were there... haha

The main change we have made this month is to build the raised bed you can see on the right. It's made of bricks we already had. The plan was to use up the topsoil we moved when we built the patio on the right...but ended up a bit big as I wanted it taller. I also got hubby to add a seat so I can sit amongst the plants, in the early morning sun or the afternoon shade.

This week has brought alot of change to my personal life and I am also doing change in my dolly family - after 2-1/2 years in this hobby and still loving it - I will be parting with some girls and bringing in some new ones. I also am trying to do some casual clothes on my girls, as I normally love dresses for my girls. How do YOU like to dress your girls? Harper looks great in our very 1st Skull Maiden Hat!!!

“I am a fashion person, and fashion is not only about clothes -- it's about all kinds of change.” ~Karl Lagerfeld

This charity top uses a lot of relatively small scraps. It is easy to make as there is little to no matching.

Finished size 60" x 80"

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PIECED TOP

I cut pieces with ¼ inch seams, as I stitched with a serger. If you choose to use ½ inch seams instead, use the measurements in parentheses.

Cut 4 sashing strips (shown in hot pink) 65½" x 2" (66" x 2½")

Cut miscellaneous scraps 8½" (9") x any width you choose. I used varying widths from 1½' to 3".

Cut side borders 65½" x 7½" (66" x 8").

Seam the scraps until you reach the length of the sashing strips. Stitch pieced and pressed strips to sashing strips. Add side borders.

If you choose to use cornerstones, there will be matching at the inner corners of the cornerstones. If you choose to use them, cut cornerstones 7½" x 7½" (8" x 8") and top and bottom borders 7½" x 46½" (8" x 47"). (Measure the quilt top before you do this, though, as slight errors in seam width could alter this measurement slightly. Be sure to add seam allowances.)

To eliminate ALL matching, omit the cornerstones and cut the top and bottom borders 7½" X 60½" (8" x 61"). (Again, measure the stitched top before you cut the border.)

Add cornerstones (if used) to the top and bottom borders.

Add the top and bottom borders to the quilt top.

Everything is changing recently.

The weather, just a few months ago so cold and dark, is bright and warm again, at long last.

My moods; perhaps because of the sun and warmth, I am much happier recently.

The people around me - my sister became an adult last month; my family and friends seem more relaxed; everyone seems to have quietened down a bit.

But above all: me.

I turned fourteen on the 5th, six days ago. I spent three days at a musical residential course, a full day down at the yard, and another day at the British Open Show Jumping Championships (pictures from that up soon, I promise).

But aside from everything I've done in the past six days, somehow, I've felt different. Perhaps for the first time after a birthday, I've felt older. Maybe it's the realisation of what I'm going to do whilst I'm fourteen - part of my GCSEs, a school concert, another production; Year Ten. Maybe it's the amount I've accomplished within my thirteenth year - horse riding achievements, new friendships, sorting out my life in certain ways.

Things changed a long time ago, and I'm past that now. But the truth is nothing ever stops changing, and it's better that way. I feel older, and I feel better, and excited as to what is going to change in the next year. I feel more responsible, and happier, and I'm ready to move away from things that happened when I was thirteen, and not fall into the same traps again.

I've done something I don't always do: I've made a decision. And my decision is that change is good.

I hope my decision doesn't change.

My absolute favourite and the last from my Easter shoot - I'm so pleased with how this series turned out! :)

8-year old Kaiky; what future is there in store for him...?

Can we change his World? Maybe, with a little help from our friends?

We have now reached USD$3.190,00 with our Flickr Christmas Campaign, “Reaching for a Star”, that’s almost 32% of our total aim and still rising...

That will purchase some of the equipment needed for our new shelter, but there’s still a long way to go.............................

Good people!

We are preparing a new shelter for some of the street kids from the centre of São Paulo. This is a partnership project with a young Norwegian lady who has decided to join us and make the street kids her life too! The house is already purchased and now it needs to be equipped. This will be a small, family-structured project, one which has proven itself from my own experiences as a long-term foster parent for many street kids these last 14 years, two of whom are now young adults and will be assisting with the running of the shelter.

I will be the mentor for these young apprentices.

Our main aim is to implement foster-care as an important facility for recuperated street children in Brazil. Today many kids are doomed to live the rest of their childhood in an institutional setting due to the lack of structured family alternatives.

The shelter aims to tackle small numbers of children coming off the streets, where Hummingbird will be their reference for positive social reintegration and their pathway to a new family structure.

Equipping a home, as you all well know, is no easy task for any family, but we aim to have the home up and running by February/March 2007. If you feel this cause worthy please don't hesitate to make your contribution to the Reaching for a Star Campaign:

To give you just some idea of our needs:

Fridge: $700,00

Gas Cooker: $700,00

Washing Machine: $600,00

Installation of two bathrooms: $2.800,00

Installation of kitchen: $1.500,00

Kitchenware: $1.000,00

TV / Video / DVD: $750,00

Computer: $900,00

Mattresses and bedclothes: $1.200,00

Furnishings: $2.000,00

etc. etc.

As you can imagine, the needs, even for the basic necessities, are many, but if we reach the $10.000,00 target for the Reaching for a Star campaign (plus a little more), we will have installed the house ready for use. A little from many will make all the difference.

Please help us to help more kids leave the streets and certain death!

I'm sure you would if you knew them...........

Thank you!

Magnitude is no more than an illusion. A changed perspective and an altered proximity can both, dwarf an enormity or make a giant out of an elf.

A book at our library!

Ok, I know this is not going to win any awards, lol but I thought I would post something a little different to my usual.

I tried some birding with Ross M, Thea M & David De Groot last weekend, with no success, all we got was very wet. So, I have been creeping around my garden the past few days & this is about the best I have come up with for now.

Ross & Thea tell me this is very addictive - & I can already see how ...

Sorry all I know (or should I say think I know) is that this is a honey eater of some sort & is not very big

Ok, my guess is :-

The water for the farmers - they have full control over it.

While shooting the street, just down from me was this guy asking for change. I quickly got a focus while on the tripod, and set the camera for remote. I then fired a bunch of shots while not even looking at him.

What i thought was funny was that after taking this, i put all my self portraits in a folder dated. And what i found out was the past two years i've taken a photo on February 15th. Now this is my third year in a row, Strange? Haha, i've changed way to much.

Here are both the pictures:

Change I can believe in.

Lately, Usa-Chan had been impressing Folk more and more. She wasn't sure if it was because she had had a change of heart towards her Summon Beast, or if Usa-Chan was trying harder.

I had been thinking from time to time of a new approach to what I do and where I am going with my photographic endeavours.

Let's see where I go or not at all. I may not post much for a while but I will be around.

All appears to change when we change.
