Just the one image from a recent quick stop before heading home from Lancaster. Wind & rain plus equipment failures, made this one a bit of a challenge. Lucky to get even this one image in the end. Ended up cold and wet.

Challenge coins have existed in the military since World War I and the traditions, rules, and etiquette surrounding them came from the military. These rules and traditions are incredibly important to military challenge coin holders.
Giving the coin has some sort of positive meaning behind it. Maybe they want to thank you for something you've done for them. Maybe they want you to remember them. Whatever the reason, treat it with respect because it is a token of appreciation.
Thank you for mine, Doug.

This morning Cherrily dropped a new challege in my mailbox! To make a dolly dress (or something else that's wearable) every day. Purpose is to hold on as long as possible.
I decided to take the plunge right away...
Wish me luck =)

Sequel to Jared's octopus challenge. I got stuck in the St. Louis Greyhound station for a few hours on my way to Centerfold, and designed this mostly while en route. I never quite figured out what to do with the tail. Life is like that sometimes.
For the 52 in 2020 challenge - No 41: "A meal I have made". Porridge with blueberry sauce, yogurt and homemade granola topping with fresh blueberries. Not that I usually have breakfast laid out on a tray but my usual mode doesn't look well!
It's lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself.

This M.I.T sweatshirt is something I can date back to at least the age of 15. It is pretty battered and holey. It has all kind of stains, including one from a pretty bad nose bleed I had when I was in college.
I focused a lot of my energy as a young adult on getting into a really good college, but then changed mymind...
This is the descendant of a Harvard sweatshirt I had that belonged to a friend of mine who passed away. It was stolen from my workplace when I was 14, so I decided to replace it with M.I.T. I was probably watching a little bit too much Good Will Hunting at the time.
It's very comfy, and this challenge is a good excuse to wear it today.

Main Street Tunnel, Welland, Canada.
My favourite tunnel. It goes under the Welland Canal, which is part of the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes Waterway and runs between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. My husband drove through the tunnel quite a few times so I could get some pictures.

I feel that such plants and flowers challenge the hard nature of the desert. They fight the fact that there is not enough water to grow and blossom.
I see this as a challenge between life and death. It is a kind of a survival game.
I learn a lot from my picnics here and there. One of the best lessons I get from such a photo is that in the most hard conditions, there is still a lot of hope if you are strong enough.
This lesson s clearly set in the Qura'n

This is the upper station of Portland's Aerial Tram from the South Waterfront up a steep hill over a freeway and several major roads to the main OHSU (Oregon Health Science University) campus.
The unusual design was driven by several factors, the main one being that it had to be tall enough for passengers to walk directly into the street level floor of the adjacent Peter Kohler pavilion (which, because of the slope of the hill is actually several floors up on the station side of the building). The other major challenge was the station could not be permanently anchored or directly connected to that building! Because of critical care issues there had to be no chance that even a collapse of the station could shake or damage the building in any way.
The solution was to use a super computer to design these unusual slanting columns and piers and connect to the hospital via a "floating" sky bridge that actually just rests via gravity in a ledge on both the station and building edges. The station is completely self-supporting via those columns and is not supported or braced any other way. The bridge runs behind the red panels in this shot.
There is a great shot showing how free-standing this structure is here.
