New Zealand National Memorial to Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd - atop Mt. Victoria lookout, Wellington.
It consists of a monument in the form of a polar tent, the front of which is built up with rocks from Antarctica. The sides were originally covered in white stucco but were reclad in the early 1990s with ceramic tiles depicting auroras, designed by artist Doreen Blumhardt. At the centre of the monument is a bronze bust of Byrd made by Thomas V. Johnston. Byrd faces out of the polar tent towards the sea and Antarctica.

If you’d like to view my images larger… While I only allow my contacts to view my larger images (I generally upload at least 800px images on the long axis)…
a quick workaround I might suggest is to view my photostream as a slideshow. Works well for me. This is frequently how I view others’ ‘streams, and it will put a large image on black. just click the projector screen icon next to the stream or set. : )

Koi tiles handmade ceramic art tiles for mosaics, ponds, installations...and more. This set is 1/4" thick, made to lie flush with commercial tiles and suitable for most indoor and outdoor uses.
I bought this tile at Tolteca Tlacuilo in Old Town Artisans complex at 186 N. Meyer Avenue in the historic El Presido neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona. Carly Quinn is a very; talented hand glazed tile artist located in Tucson. You can learn more about her and her work here:
Bison wall tile: 8 3/8" H X 11" L X 1 1/4" D; greensand clay body with added TSP - Tsp is trisodium phosphate, NaPO4, a cleaner (solubility 1.5 g/100 ml at 25 C and 8.8 g/100 ml at 25 C). The TSP migrates to the surface of the piece during drying and later combines with the iron in the clay body as firing proceeds to form a stable red-orange-brown glaze on the surface of the piece. Without the TSP at the temperature the piece was fired, the clay body would be a very light buff-tan-pink color. Fired to Cone 010 (1652 F/900 C) in an electric kiln. The buffalo was decorated with an iron-manganese terra sigillata and a black slip made from local clays collected from along Trinity Trails near the Clear Fork River.
One of my earlier pieces. It's my interpretation of the element "water". Made in ceramic tile, glass stones and split.
These beautiful, hand-painted leaf tiles are perfect for craft projects and mosaics! The vibrant colors will add a touch of personality and charm to any project.
Pack of four, orange & green, hand painted leaf tiles, outlined in black. These were handmade in a bohemian format, with hand painted highlights adding to the artsy, whimsy affect.
I hope these tiles will help in the inspiration in your creative juices whether it be for your mosaics, pottery or just to decorate in a home.
