Walking through old Overschie I came across the little old cemetary. It is still in use.

This is a cemetary east of Hartford City, IN on "Old 22" (that's the "Old State Road, #22"). SaBs took this photo while I was driving.

my favorite shot of the evening drive.

This is a Civil War to Spanish-American War era headstone. These stones CAN be replaced at government expense, either in modern granite or the identical marble design in marble. But you have to know to do this, and you also need the "authority" to do this. You also need to pay the expense to properly and quickly INSTALL the headstone on the grave, and return what's left of the old stone to the VA. While the American Legion and other VSOs have the "standing" to obtain replacement headstones, they don't have the MONEY to install them and return the "worn-out" stones to the VA. Cemetary managers face the same problems.
