Beautiful flower covered arcos or arches are a typical grave decoration in Michoacan for the Day of the Dead. Ihuatzio, Michoacan Mexico
This cemetary overlooks Glass Beach. Seems mostly asian, and many of the headstones have jars with water in them either nearby or set right into the headstones. Around the corner there is still an active part of the cemetary, so it is not abandoned.
The story
When we were kids, my sister and couusins and I would cut through the grave yard. I am not sure why, just to be travelling I guess, it was a round about way of getting somewhere, not a short cut to anywhere. We would walk along the railroad tracks and when we got on the backside of the cemetary we would have to cross a big ravine and climb a very steep bank to get into the graveyard. The raavine is still there but the tracks havve been gone for close on thirty years, you can still see the roadbed.
The cemetaries on Iceland is "pimped" up with glowing crosses. Pretty strange sight for a couple of Norwegians on a hollydaytrip
This picture was taken at the Arlington National Cemetary in Washington D.C. My husband (pictured) and I went to see the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, and took this picture afterward. He is dressed in his Army fatigues, and about to head back to Fort Benning, GA.
This is one of my personal favorites, and I just wanted to share it with everyone.
Jewish Cemetary Währing, Vienna.
Disused cemetary that fell into disrepair over the years. Plants are taking over, as is rust and decay.
This cemetary is closed to the public, but guided tours are available a couple of times a year between spring and autumn
so different than anything I have ever seen. all above the ground. I think I prefer to be buried above the ground as well. Feels much more like home.
