Supertrees are the 18 tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens' landscape with heights that range between 25 metres (82 ft) and 50 metres (160 ft). They were conceived and designed by Grant Associates, with the imaginative engineering of Atelier One and Atelier Ten. They are vertical gardens that perform a multitude of functions, which include planting, shading and working as environmental engines for the gardens.[15]

The Supertrees are home to enclaves of unique and exotic ferns, vines, orchids and also a vast collection of bromeliads such as Tillandsia, amongst other plants. They are fitted with environmental technologies that mimic the ecological function of trees: photovoltaic cells that harness solar energy which can be used for some of the functions of the Supertrees (such as lighting), similar to how trees photosynthesize, and collection of rainwater for use in irrigation and fountain displays, similar to how trees absorb rainwater for growth. The Supertrees also serve air intake and exhaust functions as part of the conservatories' cooling systems.

There is an elevated walkway, the OCBC Skyway, between two of the larger Supertrees for visitors to enjoy a panoramic aerial view of the Gardens.

Lake O'Hara is one of the best-preserved places in the Canadian Rockies. It sits high in the Canadian Rockies at an elevation of 2,020m (6,627 feet). It is a beautiful sub-alpine glacial lake surrounded by the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. There are so many accessible trails starting right from the lake, hikers can easily spend days here without getting bored. But 11-kilometer to the lake in one way from parking lot, you can either take the shuttle or hike in. If you are lucky to reserve the shuttle, you can spare this 22-kilometer walking, save the energy to climb 10~20 kilometers mountains. Access to Lake O’Hara is strictly controlled with a reservation system, which means that it is never crowded.

Luckily got camping reservation for 3 days, it was pure nature without cell signals and electricity. Unfortunately, it was raining and cloudy most of time, plus the forest fire from Jasper, the sky was covered with foggy most of time. Here is the view of Lake O'Hara and adjacent Mary Lake, the crystal-clear lakes, hanging valleys, towering snow-capped mountains, and the pristine nature that shows the best Yoho National Park has to offer.

Markyate Cell, an Elizabethan mansion (with a longer religious prehistory) in Markyate, Hertfordshire. The house is situated in the midst of a wonderful park. The gates you see in the other images of this series belong to this mansion. Do you like it? It could be yours - it is for sale again.

Auf der Allerinsel ist ein neues Naherholungsgebiet entstanden. Die Abtrennung von dem Erholungsgebiet zum Industriegebiet erolgt durch einen sehr naturnahen Zaun aus langen Holzscheiten. Eine sehr gelungene Lösung wie ich finde.

This Chrysalisis the caterpillar I found on the tropical balloon milkweed... I can't believe I missed it while searching for cats and eggs.... but there it was waving at me!

I found it on June 1st... so if it turns out to be a female, her name will be June!!

She went into chrysalis on 6/5, so soon it will eclose!!

Still no signs of Monarchs on Long Island.... I'm not giving up hope since last year I found my first three eggs on July 13th...

I have faith!!

This dragonfly had just finished molting so it was not very active yet. The color was brilliant.

This used to be the gatekeeper's lodge for Markyate Cell, a 16th century mansion. The property is now in private ownership. Built in Elizabethan style and dating from the first decades of the 19th century, the building is grade II listed. 7Artisans manual lens at F5.6.

From my 2017 archives. Forlorn tiny inmate bedroom cell at Z Ward, where the criminally insane of Adelaide were locked back in 1885. The criteria for being an inmate was having committed a crime and posing a danger to others and/or themselves due to insanity.

I currently work at a non-profit organisation that provides support service to the intellectually disabled. We have come a very long way since the days of Z Ward. Today the Australian National Disability Insurance Scheme promotes individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making, and actively prevents abuse, harm, neglect and violence. This is further enforced by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
