A rare shot of a Rufous Hummingbird catching an insect. For those of you that don't know, Feeders and flower nectar is not their only source of food. Insect makes up a big part of their protein diet. Taken with a Nikon D7000 with Nikkor 70-300mm VR & SB800 flash.
Even in 1989, catching a 5-unit lashup of all Seaboard heritage units was pretty rare, especially in northern Indiana. This is train R381 being led by an L&N painted GP38, a SCL/L&N C30-7, a Seaboard System painted GP38-2 and two SCL painted GP38-2's. After waiting for an eastbound and Conrail's FWEL to get through the plant, they are underway again headed towards Chicago. Date is 9/23/89.
On a walk around Abberley Park September 10, 2015 Christchurch New Zealand.
Abberley has its origins as a private garden, with the earliest trees dating from the 1860s. The park retains much of its original peaceful 19th century character, since maintenance rather than redevelopment has been the focus from the time it came under City Council ownership in the late 1930s.

I've shot with Whitney several times over the years. For this shoot we met at the campus of a business in Meridian, Idaho on a lovely June evening. The photography gods were definitely with us. Whitney looked stunning and brought her A Game along with several new outfits she wanted to try. Great choices. This album features the black top. Life is good.

The sun peeked out for all of 20seconds, and caught my shadow :)
These flowers seem so eager to catch the falling rain drops. For a diferent look, see this.
I was a bit worried that my camera might catch a few too.

This eye-catching galaxy is known as NGC 5364.
Unmistakably a spiral, NGC 5364 is also something known as a grand design spiral galaxy — a descriptive name deserved by only one-tenth of spirals. While all spirals have a structure that is broadly similar, there is quite a bit of variation among individual galaxies; some have patchy, oddly shaped arms, some have bars of stars cutting through their core, some are colossal and radiant, and others are dim and diminutive. Grand designs like NGC 5364 are in many ways the archetype of a spiral galaxy. They are characterized by their prominent, well-defined arms, which circle outward from a clear core.
Despite being classified in this way, NGC 5364 is far from perfect. Its arms are asymmetrical compared to other grand design spirals — this is thought to be due to interactions with a nearby neighbor. This neighbor and NGC 5364 are tugging on one another, warping and moving their stars and gas around and causing this misshapen appearance.

Their ears goes this way and their fur goes that way (and the less said about the slobber, the better) but their attention and coordination is tightly focused on catching that Cookie.
And yes, if you look very closely you'll the Cookie "safely" corralled within Zachary's jaws.
You can't really see it that well in this picture, but Zachary has pulled his whiskers all the way forward - making the "holes" quite visible - perhaps so he can feel the Cookie go by if he misses it.
Which only happens when I make a really bad toss.

Catching up with 2018...though there is no time remaining on the meter...2019 arrived as predicted...I did not.
The story is jumbled...sorry.
A few moments spent with my dear Christmas Cactus in early December.
These photos are in memory of my brother's Mother In-Law and close family friend, Doris. She left this world in April 2017 at the age of 89...a life well lived.
I was sweating it out earlier in the year. I had adopted Doris Lewis' Christmas Cactus back in August 2017...a living reminder of her kindness and friendship over a lifetime. I did a rough job on the transplanting and then hung it in a location that the Cactus hated...at one point I thought it was going to die from the stress. I moved it to it's current location on the East Side of the house, changed the watering schedule to once a week and to my joy, it lived and actually is thriving!

Last light of this evening sunset catching the rocks. Looking over to Grindslow Knoll from Ringing Roger.
In Nh visiting friends and took this from their patio by the pool in the back yard. The sun was going down and the clouds were catching in my opinion a perfect combination of colors. I also liked the natural framing from the trees as well.

S.S. Badger and S.S. Spartan. Catching up on developing and scanning. Shot a roll of very expired film. This is one of the more interesting images from that roll. Taken with a No. 1A Autographic Kodak Jr camera, manufactured 1914 thru 1925. It takes 116 film, and I came across some very expired Ansco Plenachrome "safety film", expired May 1956. I was not sure if I would get any images at all. Film is definitely very fogged, but I got images! Metered the film at ISO 1. Lens is a Bausch & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear, max aperture f/8. Aperture settings on this lens are very interesting. The aperture numbers go from 4 thru 128. But they are not f-stops, they are relative numbers, so 4 is twice the aperture of 8, 8 is twice the aperture of 16, etc. It works out that number 16 is equal to f/16. So, 4= f/8, 8=f/11, etc. By what I can see, Kodak used to refer to these numbers as the "U.S. system", in contrast to the "normal" aperture settings we are familiar with today, which they called the "F. system". At least, they did back in 1914 :-) Negatives developed in Rodinal 1+100 semi-stand development for 1 hour.
This was my first time seeing a puffer fish, also called blowfish as this Great Blue Heron snatched one from the bay.

Talking about being at the right time & moment. I had the time to set my camera, jump on top of the Moving train and take the shot!
I kid, I kid...
This capture was trully a snapshot I took while driving from work. (Yea I know, driving & shooting) Not a safe combo. But shooting blindly into the landscape was fun, exciting and somewhat safe since I wasn't all eyes on the live view. (Just point & shoot)
Well this was one of those moments. When I got home I couldn't believe the shot.
Then came my imagination!
I saw it, like a vision in my hands.
For the days to come, some thoughts appeared on my head & gave me the expression of something I have been wanting to do with a train for a while now.
By the third day or so, I decided to take it a step forward. At first it didn't look like I expect. But slowly & surely, it started to come around.
I had no intentions of doing this. It just comes & goes!
My inspiration: inFAMOUS
When this game first came out. I felt in love with it, I recorded the entire footage of me passing the game. I was hooked! inFAMOUS 2 came out, but I haven't had the chance to play it. inFAMOUS the original was all I needed. Kinda like the story of the first game better then the 2nd one.
So here it is!
Hope you enjoy it, and yes that is me "Catching the Train" :D
BTW: I have to give props to the person that made these Lightning Brushes here .
It would of taken me years to make. lol
He is working on China's most famous and wealthy shopping street, Nanjing Road in Shanghai. So many people, young and old, from everywhere are constantly checking the dustbins and street for material that can be recycled that there can't be too much left for the official cleaning squad to take care of.
Deep in thought this morning he did not notice me or anyone else during his little break.

There is something written on the wall behind him...I wonder what it says. If anyone with good eyes and Chinese could tell me I'd be more than happy.
