I bought these cheap $20 HDMI Extender over CAT5 / CAT6 receiver & sender on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong. I was very surprised how well it worked with 75 feet long CAT6 cables.

Its 2011 and most homes still do not have Gigabit Ethernet. Come on people, 802.3ab came out in 1999 setting the standard for UTP CAT5e/6. If you do not have a 1,000,000,000 bps connection right now, what are you waiting for to upgrade?

Step 3: Prep the cut wires.
This is a closer shot of the wires that make up the P-TTL sync cable. On mine, the blue wire's insulation was significantly tougher than the others. The punchdown tool and RJ45 module were unable to fully pierce it. I had to strip some of the insulation by hand.
I didn't want to worry about using crossover or regular ethernet cables. I wanted to be able to grab any old cable and make the flash work without the risk of crossing wires. The difference between the two cable types is that pins 1 and 3 are swapped, as are 2 and 6. Since the Pentax sync cable has 5 conductors, I couldn't completely avoid all of those pins. I chose to join pins 1, 2, 3, and 6 so that the P-TTL cable's pin 2 would use all of them. This means that standard and crossover ethernet cables will still cause pin 2 on the sync cable to be connected. I bundled the bare copper and distributed it between the connectors for RJ45 pins 1, 2, 3, and 6 -- which are all on one side of the module.
